  1. Alzheimer's Association
    The Alzheimer's Association is a leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer's care, support and research. The association operates a toll-free, 24/7 helpline that provides information, referrals and support in multiple languages. From coast to coast, their local chapters provide core services to families and professionals, including information and referral, support groups, care consultation, education and safety services. Their online forums connects people from all across the country who share their experiences and find support and friendship with others living with Alzheimer's. MedicAlert and Alzheimer's Association Safe Return is the Alzheimer's Association's 24-hour nationwide emergency response service for individuals with Alzheimer's or related dementia that wander or who have a medical emergency. They also operate the Alzheimer's Association Green-Field Library, one of the largest libraries dedicated to Alzheimer's disease. The library provides a wide variety of free information services to the public. The Alzheimer's Association's CareSource offers an online suite of resources that will help coordinate assistance from family and friends, locate senior housing, receive customized care recommendations and enhance caregiving skills.   2. Alzheimer's Bookshelf
    Elder Books is dedicated to publishing practical hands-on guidebooks for family and professional caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's disease. The books are written in a style that is user-friendly and non-technical, presenting key information on caregiver concerns. Whether you are a family caregiver or a professional working in a care facility, this selective collection of guidebooks will help you provide good care giving for the person with Alzheimer's.   3. Alzheimer's Daily News
    Each day Ageless Design reviews the news wires, looking for press releases and current articles relating to dementia. Staff members write a brief description of each article and provides a link to the original story before including it in The Alzheimer's Daily News. [More Information]
  4. Alzheimer's Disease Education and Referral (ADEAR) Center
    The ADEAR Center provides current, comprehensive Alzheimer's disease information and resources from the National Institute on Aging. The Center's information specialists provide answers to specific questions; literature database searches for further research and reading; information on clinical research trials; and referrals to local supportive services and AD Centers that specialize in research and diagnosis. The Center's free publications offer information on Alzheimer's symptoms, diagnosis, related disorders, risk factors, treatment, caregiving tips, home safety tips, and research.     The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) provides this Web resource on Alzheimer's disease. It offers information on research, treatment and living with Alzheimer's disease for people with the disease and for caregivers. [More Information]
  6. AlzheimersandDementias.com
    This site promotes Terry Townsend's book, "Living Alone with Alzheimer's and Dementia," which focuses on keeping a loved one living safely in his/her own home for as long as possible with Alzheimer's disease or dementia.   7. AlzOnline
    AlzOnline (formerly Alzheimer's Caregiver Support Online) is a telehealth project sponsored by the State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the University of Florida (UF) Center for Telehealth. AlzOnline provides caregivers of persons with Alzheimer's and other memory problems with a place where they can participate in online classes, find support, and find the latest information on caregiving.   8. American Health Assistance Foundation
    The American Health Assistance Foundation (AHAF) funds research on Alzheimer's disease, glaucoma, macular degeneration, heart disease, and stroke. AHAF also provides the public with information about risk factors, preventative lifestyles, available treatments and coping strategies. [More Information]
  9. Caregiver.com
    The publisher of "Today's Caregiver" magazine offers a site that includes a newsletter, back issue articles from "Today's Caregiver" magazine, chat rooms and online discussion forums on issues such as Alzheimer's disease, psychological disabilities, cancer, respite care, and medication management.   10. Combined Health Information Database
    This on-line database lists a wealth of health promotion and education materials and program descriptions from all health-related agencies of the U.S. government, including the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. It covers several disability topics including deafness and communication disorders, diabetes, eating disabilities and Alzheimer's disease. [More Information]

    Connecting Caregivers seeks to provide family caregivers with information about caring for people who suffer from Alzheimer's disease, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and other brain-impairing conditions. [More Information]
  12. Empire Homecare Resources for Seniors and Caregivers
    Empire Home Care is a health care support service for seniors and theri families and caregivers. This site provides links to information on home health care and insurance issues as well as links to related sites. Empire's health care video collection offers medical training and assistance to nurses, seniors, parents, families, and grandparents with many disabilities. Empire also will provide insurance quotes if you complete their online form. [More Information]
  13. ENABLE Project - Enabling Technologies for People with Dementia
    The ENABLE project, which concluded in 2004, was concerned with development and adaptation of technological products that people with dementia (e.g. Alzheimer's disease) could use to carry out daily tasks which they previously were unable to do due to dementia. The selected products fell into three categories: (1) devices to support memory (time orientation, taking medicines etc.); (2) devices to provide pleasure and comfort (multimedia programs); and (3) devices to facilitate communication (a pre-programmable telephone). The project was funded by the European Union and carried out by partners in five countries (England, Ireland, Finland, Lithuania and Norway). It was coordinated by the Norwegian Centre for Dementia Research. [More Information]

    The Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research Foundation supports research for Alzheimer's disease and provides information and other resources for people with Alzheimer's and their caregivers and family members. [More Information]
  15. LightBridge Healthcare Research, Inc.
    LightBridge Healthcare Research provides education and training materials for Alzheimer’s caregivers. LightBridge offers two educational CD-ROMs on Alzheimer’s disease and strategies for nutrition and related issues. These CD-ROMs are designed to be played on a home computer to allow for self-paced learning about this difficult disease. LightBridge’s products are available for purchase on line.   16. National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke
    A component of the National Institutes of Health and the U.S. Public Health Service, NINDS is the leading supporter of biomedical research on disorders of the brain and nervous system.
