The Regular, Jumbo, Reversible, and Pencil Braille Styluses are designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The Regular Stylus (23-3001-7) is durable and easy to use. The Jumbo Stylus (23-2901-9) is designed for creating Jumbo braille with larger, more widely spaced dots that can be felt more easily by individuals with neurological impairments such as diabetic neuropathy. The Reversible Stylus (23-3101-5) has a braille stylus and Teflon braille eraser in one unit. The steel point can be unscrewed and inserted into the aluminum handle for safe carrying. The Pencil Stylus (23-3401-9) is a pencil shape stylus with a pocket clip.
CASSETTE LABELING SLATE (MODEL 23-0351-9) & CASSETTE LABELS (MODEL 23-4151-9)
The Cassette Labeling Slate, model 23-0351-9, is a braille slate designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision as a braille labeler for cassettes. This braille slate is designed for use with Cassette Labels, model 23-4151-9, which are made of clear adhesive tape. The slate has two full rows of 14 cells on the top and bottom lines. The second and third lines have two cells at each margin. Cassette Labels are sold in a package of 25 labels.
COMPASS (MODEL 23-4201-2) & TRACING WHEEL (MODEL 23-4501-5)
The Compass, model 23-4201-2, and Tracing Wheel, model 23-4501-5, are tactile drawing tools designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The compass comes with a tracing wheel to draw circles up to 5.5 inches in diameter in reverse image. The tracing wheel can be used to create outlines of pictures, patterns, diagrams, etc. in reverse image.
CORRECTION SLATE (MODEL 23-1301-3)
The Correction Slate, model 23-1301-3, is a braille correcting slate designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This 40-cell, four-line slate has the same cell spacing as a Perkins Brailler (see separate entry). It is made of aluminum and comes with a braille stylus.
DESK SLATE (MODEL 23-1401-1)
The Desk Slate, model 23-1401-1, is a braille slate designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This 40-line, 4-cell slate allows the user to write more braille on 11 by 11.5 inch paper, and is recommended for use in transcribing. It comes with a 28-line masonite board and a braille stylus. OPTIONS: Slate (23-1501-8) and board (23-1601-6) are available separately.
DYMO TAPE HOLDER (MODEL 22-0208-3)
The Dymo Tape Holder, model 22-0208-3, is a braille writer accessory designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It attaches to any Perkins Brailler (see separate entries) and permits fully contracted braille to be produced on Dymo labeling tape without the necessity of using a slate and stylus. This accessory is easy to attach and features durable, all-metal construction.
E-Z READ SLATES (MODELS 23-0701-5, 23-0801-3, 23-1101-7, & 23-1201-5)
E-Z Read Slates are braille slates designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. These are aluminum slates with pins on the top leaf to secure the paper so that the user can read the braille without removing the paper from the slate. Available models include the ##1 E-Z Read, model 23-0701-5, a 27-cell, 4-line slate; the ##2 E-Z Read, model 23-1801-3, a 19-cell, 6-line postcard size slate; the 8 Line E-Z Read, model 23-1101-7, a 28-cell, 8-line slate; and the Jumbo E-Z Read, model 23-1201-5, an 18-cell, 4-line slate with oversized cells and dots. The Jumbo model is designed to produce braille that can be read by individuals with neurological disabilities affecting the sense of touch, including diabetic neuropathy. All models except the Jumbo model come with a regular braille stylus. The Jumbo model comes with a Jumbo stylus, but may be used with a regular stylus to produce a sharper dot.
FREEHAND DRAWING STYLUS (MODEL 23-5401-7)
The Freehand Drawing Stylus, model 23-5401-7, is a braille drawing stylus designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This is a sturdy, stable long-reach stylus that can be used to create reproductions of geometric shapes on braille paper. The stylus allows for proper placement of one dot at a time.

Large Cell Perkins Braillers, models 22-0114-3 (manual) and 22-0116-8 (electric), are braille writers designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. These sturdy, portable machines are similar to the Standard Perkins Brailler (see separate entry), but produce larger braille cells with more space between the dots, allowing the braille to be read by persons with neurological problems affecting the sense of touch, including diabetic neuropathy. The Perkins Brailler Felt Pad and Carrying Cases are braille writer accessories designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. These accessories are specifically designed for use with the Perkins Brailler (see separate entries). The Felt Pad, model 22-0204-2, slips under the brailler to reduce noise. The rigid Carrying Case, model 23-0001-0, has two key-operated locks to keep the brailler secure during transit. The Soft Side Carry Case, model 23-0002-8, is made from a lightweight, water-resistant material with a dual, heavyweight zipper. The case opens on three sides to permit ease in packing the brailler. PERKINS BRAILLER STRAIGHT EXTENSION KEYS, ONE HAND EXTENSION KEYS, & SPACE BAR EXTENSION KEY (MODELS 22-0202-6, 22-0201-8, & 22-0205-9)
The Perkins Brailler Straight Extension Keys, One Hand Extension Keys, and Space Bar Extension Key are braille writer accessories designed to make use of the Perkins Brailler (see separate entries) easier for individuals with limited hand strength and dexterity, including those with the use of only one hand. Extension keys attach to any Perkins Brailler and fold up when not in use to allow the brailler to fit into a carrying case. Straight Extension Keys, model 22-0202-6, reduce the effort required to operate the Perkins Brailler by 30 percent. They are intended for two-handed use. One Hand Extension Keys, model 22-0201-6, reduce the required keyboard handspan from seven to four inches, allowing the user to emboss a full braille cell with one stroke of either hand. The Space Bar Extension Key, model 22-0205-9, makes the space bar more accessible to users with limited thumb movement.
PERKINS PANDA EARLY LITERACY PROGRAM
The Perkins Panda Early Literacy Program is a braille instruction kit designed for use by children who are blind or have low vision. This kit includes materials that help teach fundamental early literacy skills to children with visual impairments and help parents to be more involved in their child’s development. Included in the kit are three packets, each with an interrelated storybook, activity guide, and cassette with songs and new stories to complement the storybooks. In addition, there is a guide to additional resources, a story box, and a Gund brand stuffed panda with a backpack that can hold a tape player (not included). The storybooks all have uncontracted (beginning stage or Grade 1) braille, large print, and high-contrast illustrations. The first book, Belly Button, is a tactile board book.
The Perkins-APH Brailler, also called the Next Generation Perkins Brailler, is a manual braille writer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This brailler can accommodate standard 8.5 x 11 paper and paper up to 14 inches. Keys are set low, and keystrokes are quiet and require low force. The end-of-line bell is audible but muted. An eraser button allows the user to push one button to erase an entire braille cell. The base is also a handle. The back panel can be raised to provide a flat surface for reading the page, and the front panel margin guides are accessible from the front. The unit has a metal inner frame and parts, with a high-impact polycarbonate outer shell. Paper-feed knobs are designed to be held and turned easily. For users with low vision, the unit has high contrast colors between the keys and body. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 6 x 12 x 10 inches. COLOR: Blue with silver keys. WARRANTY: One year limited warranty.

Pocket Slates are braille slates designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The ##1 Pocket Slate, model 23-0301-4, is a 27-cell, 4-line slate; the ##2 Pocket Slate, model 23-0401-2, is a 19-cell, 6-line postcard size slate; and the ##140 Pocket Slate, model 23-0601-7, is a 40-cell, 4-line slate designed for use without a board. RAISED LINE DRAWING KIT: BASIC (23-5901-6) & COMPLETE (23-6001-4)
The Basic and Complete Raised Line Drawing Kits are braille and raised line drawing kits designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. Kits contain drawing materials and equipment needed to create raised line drawings of mathematical and geometrical diagrams, etc., in actual representation (not in reverse). The Basic Kit, model 23-5901-6, includes 100 sheets of Mylar (10-inch square), a 12-inch braille ruler, a pencil stylus, and an 11.5-inch square drawing board with a rubber surface. The Complete Kit, model 23-6001-4, contains all of the items found in the Basic Kit, plus a compass (without a star wheel) and a braille protractor with a cursor and square (L-shaped metal). The drawing boards for both kits come with holes on all sides so that a ruler and protractor will stay in place.

The Small Loose Leaf Pocket Notebook, model 23-2501-7, is a three-ring notebook with a 20-cell, 8-line braille slate and room for storing notes and extra paper. Sudoku Touch is a tactile and large print math puzzle designed for use by people who are blind or have low vision. This accessible sudoku game consists of a birchwood game board with a plastic grid of 81 squares (9 rows of 9 squares), tiles with braille and large, bold text labels, and a storage drawer for the tiles under the game board. Sudoku Touch includes 40 puzzles, ranging in difficulty from easy to hard, and a solutions guide. Users set up a puzzle and then place the tiles to complete the sudoku grid. TELLATOUCH (MODEL 22-0501-1)
Tellatouch, model 22-0501-1, is a manual braille writer and refreshable braille display designed for use in communication with individuals who are deaf blind. This communication device for the deaf blind has a keyboard with four rows of keys, and a braille display. The top three rows of the keyboard have keys for the alphabet, and the fourth row has the keys of a standard braille keyboard. To receive messages, the deaf blind user places a hand over the braille display. A sighted individual can communicate with a deaf blind user by pressing the letter keys, causing the corresponding raised braille characters to appear on the braille display. Grade 2 braille contractions can be produced on the display using the braille keyboard, which also enables a blind individual to communicate with a deaf blind user. All keys make a clicking noise when pressed. The device includes a carrying strap.
UNIMANUAL PERKINS BRAILLER (MODEL 22-0101-0)
The Unimanual Perkins Brailler, model 22-0101-0, is a manual braille writer designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision and who can use only one hand. This sturdy, portable machine has the features of the Standard Perkins Brailler (see separate entry) along with the ability to produce braille with only one hand. The keys for dots 1, 2, and 3 remain in a locked position until dots 4, 5, and 6 are added or the spacebar is depressed. The 2GB Blank Cartridge for NLS/BARD and Library of Congress New Digital Talking Book Players is a digital talking book cartridge designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision or physical disabilities that prevent holding a book. This cartridge is the new format for digital audio materials from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped (NLS) of the Library of Congress, and is used by eligible borrowers to download digital talking books and magazines from the Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD) website.
