  1. BRAILLABEL

    Braillable are clear plastic, adhesive-backed sheets designed for braille labeling sheets designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. The sheets are placed in a Brailler or stylus to create raised, color contrasted labels. The braille can then be cut out with scissors, the backing peeled off, and stuck on most objects. There are 12 sheets per package. DIMENSIONS: Sheets are 8.5 x 11 inches.

  2. BRAILON

    Brailon is a plastic sheet for use with thermoform machines for individuals who are blind. The paper has a matte surface, and is non-toxic, moisture proof and classroom safe. It is available in regular, heavy and extra heavy thicknesses and can be three-hole and 19-hole punched. DIMENSIONS: Thickness is regular: .005 inch, thick: .008 inch and extra thick: .01 inch. Paper sizes vary from 8.5 x 11 inches to 13-7/8 x 18-5/8 inches.

  3. COMPU.DOT

    Compu-Dot is computer braille paper available in two grades for individuals who are blind. Final Edit style is 100 pound manila stock used for textbooks and thermoforming masters. It is available in standard and 19-hole punched version. Rough Draft style is 60 pound kraft stock for proofreading, editorial tasks and correspondence use. Both come boxed in 1000 sheets. DIMENSIONS: Both styles are available in 11 x 11.5 inches. Final Edit is also available in 8.5 x 11 inches.

  4. DOT & PRINT Picture of DOT & PRINT

    Dot & Print is a dual braille / print printing system designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This printer can produce standard ink print and six-dot braille on alternating lines. It prints at a rate of 50 characteres per second, using Hewlett-Packard inkjet technology for ink print. In addition to braille and print on alternating lines, it can also produce braille alone, standard print alone, and large print alone.

  5. EMBOSSABLES

    Embossables are Braille labeling sheets designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. Embossables are designed to be brailled using a Braille embosser or printer. They are made of plastic with an adhesive backing. After brailling, labels can be cut to the desired size, then pressed onto any smooth surface of plastic, metal or painted wood. Embossables are sold in packages of 50 continuous sheets and boxes of 500 continuous sheets. DIMENSIONS: Sheets are 8.5 x 11 inches.

  6. EZ-FORM THERMOFORM DUPLICATING MACHINE

    The EZ-Form Thermoform Duplicating Machine is a copy machine for producing tactile relief images for individuals who are blind or have low vision. The device will copy any brailled or embossed original by means of a vacuum forming process. The original is placed in the unit, a sheet of Brailon (see separate entry) is placed over the original and secured, the heating unit is pulled into position which starts the automatic timer. The vacuum pump starts automatically to produce a copy. Originals must be less than 11 x 11.5 inches. Brailon plastic is not flammable and has a durable, paperlike finish so it can be written on with a pen. POWER: The unit plugs into any outlet. DIMENSIONS: 16 x 35 x 16 inches. WEIGHT: 82 pounds.

  7. KTS REFRESHABLE BRAILLE DISPLAY (BRAILLOTERM 40/80 CELL BRAILLE DISPLAY)

    The KTS Refreshable Braille Display is a refreshable braille display designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This display comes with software for translating text to braille and vice versa. The display is available models with 40 or 80 cells. Features include 6- or 8-dot braille selected by keystroke; screen navigation using 14 dedicated function keys; hardware cursor or 10 soft cursor tracking; display of attributes in monochrome or color modes; direct line selection; string or attribute searching using the integrated braille keypad; full 40-cell or 80-cell status line; three supervision lines displayed and automatic text changing; two resident braille tables with an editor; braille display set-up definable through batch files; dual interface to allow the braille display to echo to a second screen or printer; push-button cursor routing; and free user-installable software upgrades. To produce tactile graphics with this machine, the user first photocopies an image onto Swell-Touch paper (see separate entry), then passes the Swell-Touch paper through the Swell-Form Heating Machine. All the black areas puff up or swell, while the white areas remain flat. The machine accommodates three sizes of paper. POWER: Uses 110 volts/60 Hertz/5 Amps maximum current. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 6.25 x 19.75 x 4.75 inches. WEIGHT: 14 pounds.

    Swell-Touch Paper is tactile graphics paper designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. It is used with the Swell-Form Graphics Heating Machine (see separate entry) to produce tactile graphics. The user first photocopies an image onto Swell-Touch paper, then passes the Swell-Touch paper through the Swell-Form Heating Machine.     The Basic-D, model 70100, is a double-sided Braille printer or Braille embosser designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. The Basic-D uses continuous tractor-feed paper and can print double-sided (interpoint) Braille pages at a rate of 340 pages per hour. The control panel is labeled in both Braille and ink, and voice confirmation is provided when keys are pressed. The Basic-D supports as many as 20 Braille alphabets, and can also print Braille graphics (tactile graphics). This printer comes with a copy of WinBraille, a Braille translation and editing program that works from any common Windows word processor or other Windows application in Windows 9X/Me or NT/2000 operating systems. The Braillo 400 SR Embosser reduces paper costs because it uses paper rolls up to 40 inches in diameter rather than standard continuous fanfold paper. Paper widths from four to fourteen inches are accepted. Once the paper is brailled, a built-in paper cutter cuts the paper and releases it to the stacker. When the stacker reaches its1000-sheet capacity, a sensor stops the machine so the stacked paper can be removed. A mechanical lift puts rolls of paper into place. The Everest is a double- and single-sided Braille printer that uses cut sheet card-stock paper of the sort that is available off-the-shelf in office supply stores. Keys are labeled in ink and in Braille, and provide voice confirmation when pressed. The Everest will print Braille with dot distances of 1.6, 2.0, and 2.6 millimeters, and it will print tactile graphics images created by any Braille graphics software. The printing speed is up to 340 pages per hour. Twenty Braille alphabets are supported including user-defined. POWER: Uses 100 to 115 or 220 to 240 volts. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 17 x 7 x 22 inches.   8. MEGADOTS

    MegaDots is a braille text editor and translation program designed to enable the user to produce printed or brailled output from the same computer document. The program is a style-based word processor (the user assigns a style to a block of text and the program handles all formatting commands). The program comes with predefined styles for items such as headings, items in a list, tables of contents and indices. The program can import documents from 95 different file formats (including Macintosh applications) and automatically applies styles, which can be changed based on formatting commands used by the original program. Braille output can also be viewed on the screen as a dot pattern and documentation included with the program gives an overview of the rules for producing proper braille documents. Other features include a large print option which enables print output in any size from 14 to 64 point; a choice of Grade 1, Grade 2, Computer Braille Code, or Linear Braille format; Grade 1 French, Spanish, Italian, or German; access via screen, voice, large print, refreshable Braille, or a combination thereof; and automatic correction of Braille data entry errors. Beginner Braille and MegaMath(see entry) are included. Although this is a DOS program, it launches from Windows and it can read and write Windows formats. The software includes a Windows installation program that automatically installs desktop icons and shortcuts. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM PC and compatible computers and most ink and braille printers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, or 32-bit Vista (64-bit Vista with Virtual PC installed) and CD-ROM drive.
