The course includes an audio table of contents on a standard CD that explains what is taught in each of the 16 lessons, and also discusses how to physically navigate through the 26-CD guitar course. Without materials to read, the 20-hour curriculum guides the absolute beginner from learning the anatomy of the instrument to a working knowledge of the basic chords, scales, and techniques needed to begin playing contemporary guitar music. This all-audio approach to music instruction allows the student to focus on the feel of the instrument while effectively developing the primary sensory application used in music: the use of hearing alone to absorb and internalize the material at hand. Audio instructions are combined with guided playing exercises. Lessons include step-by-step audio instruction on tuning, picking, strumming, fretting notes, scales, open chords, power chords, 12 bar blues, and other techniques. Three Play-it-Now all-audio song lessons are placed at strategic points so the student can apply newly learned skills to playing popular songs.
