CANADIAN BANK NOTE READER
The Canadian Bank Note Reader is a voice output and vibrating paper money identifier designed for individuals who are blind or deaf-blind or who have low vision. The Canadian Bank Note Reader recognizes all Canadian bank notes currently in circulation and those expected to be in circulation over the next few years. Output modes that may be selected by the user include tone output, vibration, and speech in either French or English. There is a volume control for speech and tone announcements as well as a standard headphone jack. The Canadian Bank Note Reader has an ergonomic design that is compact and easy to use. Its two-tone coloring provides high contrast in the areas that matter. Grips along each side prevent the unit from slipping out of the hand. Rubber pads on the underside help it to remain stationary on a table or counter. The battery door moves on a hinge rather than detaching, to prevent loss. The battery simply pushes in, without the connector that is usually associated with a 9v battery. Volume and output selection switches have a distinct feel. A wrist strap can be attached securely to prevent loss and assist in locating the Bank Note Reader in a bag. The Canadian Bank Note Reader comes with a protective pouch with a Velcro flap for attaching to a belt, and with bilingual user instructions in Braille, in large print, and on audio cassette. POWER: 9-volt alkaline battery (included).

SENSORY 6
The Sensory 6 is an audible electronic mobility aid used in conjunction with a cane that detects objects through ultrasound and indicates their presence to the user via a series of tones. The device has three components: eyeglasses with built-in range detectors, earphones, and a base unit containing the electronic components and the rechargeable power supply. The unit includes volume control and sliders for specifying short and long range. The user receives the auditory cues through the earphones. Included in the purchase of the system are a User Guide Booklet and an Audio Tape providing a spoken version of the former. OPERATION: The device sends out ultrasonic waves that bounce off dominant objects in its path. OPTIONS: Auxiliary equipment is available including spare battery packs and monitoring earphones for use with instructors. RANGE: Short range is 1 to 6 feet; long range is 1 to 12 feet. Detection pattern is 25 degrees horizontal plane, and 15 degrees vertical plane. FREQUENCY: Transmission frequency is 50 Hz, audio frequency is 150 Hz to 3 kHz. WEIGHT: 0.7 pounds.
