  4. DOOR / WINDOW ACCESS TRANSMITTER

    The Door/Window Access Transmitter is a security system designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The system comprises two small magnetic contact bars and a transmitter. When the door or window to which the bars are attached is opened, the bars lose magnetic contact, triggering the transmitter.

  5. FIRE ALARM TRANSMITTER

    The Fire Alarm Transmitter is an emergency alert system designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Designed to be wired into a home or building, the triggering of the fire alarm causes the transmitter to signal any Silent Call Receiver (not included), causing it to vibrate and/or flash and illuminate the "FIRE" light. WARRANTY: Five years.

  6. GOOD VIBRATIONS RECEIVER

    Good Vibrations (formerly Silent Call and Personal Alert) is a sound monitor system that alerts individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing to audio stimuli in the household. The user wears a small receiver unit that simultaneously vibrates in response to a signal from any of several transmitted signals. Transmitters are available for detecting: sound (such as a baby's cry), smoke in the house, telephone ringing, doorbell ringing, or a pager (each sold separately). The receiver features four lights on the faceplate, indicating which of the four transmitters is the source of the signal. The system can be used with one receiver and with as many transmitters as desired. OPTIONS: Smoke Detector with Transmitter, Door Bell Transmitter, Telephone Transmitter, Rechargeable Sound Monitor, Pager Transmitter, and a Beacon Type Strobe Light.   7. KNOCK SENSOR (Models KTS1, 3240-L, & 3240-T)

    The Knock Sensor is a flashing light signal designed to indicate door knocking for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The system attaches to the door with Velcro or with a door bracket (model KTS1) and is sensitive to vibrations. It signals when someone is knocking on the door by flashing a light that shuts off automatically after five seconds. The system has a two-position sensitivty setting and will not pick up outside sounds. Model 3240-L is designed to be used alone while model 3240-T is designed to be used with Silent Call Receivers (see separate entries). OPTIONS: Clip-on doorbell bracket.   8. OMNI PAGE & OMNI PAGE II

    The Omni page and the Omni Page II are paging systems designed for person-to-person or device-to-person communication for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. It allows an individual to communicate with another individual or to be alerted to a signal from an electronic device, such as a smoke detector, telephone, sound monitor, or doorbell. The system is comprised of three units: a receiver, a transmitter, and a charger. The wireless receiver unit attaches easily to a belt or pocket and sends an audible sound or vibration to summon the wearer when a transmitter is activated. The receiver is notified of a "page" from one of the optional transmitters sent by another person, either a pendant pager transmitter, body activated switch, or a hand-held pager transmitter. The system is completely wireless and able to monitor signals up to 100 feet away. The receiver and the transmitters are sold separately. The Omni Page II is designed for use in the commercial/industrial setting. In this case the receiver unit can be programmed to accept up to ten different coded messages. The message pad, mounted at the service station, is used by the manager to relat a job command to the person wearing the receiver unit. The receiver vibrates and the worker reads the light indication a coded message. WARRANTY: Five years.

  9. RECHARGEABLE SOUND MONITOR

    The Rechargeable Sound Monitor is designed for use by individuals who have hearing disabilities. The unit may be placed in any room to monitor sounds such as a baby's cry, a timer, or other household activity. This device features an adjustable sensitivity level, permitting a range of sound levels to be monitored. POWER: Uses normal household current or the built-in rechargeable battery.

  10. SHAKE-UP

    Shake-Up is a combination smoke detector and smoke alarm designed for individuals who have hearing disabilities. The wireless smoke detector transmits a signal within a 100-foot radius and activates the receiver which attaches to a wall or can be placed on a night stand. The receiver then turns on a bed vibrating unit or flashes a strobe light to alert a sleeping person. There are two packages available: One system includes an audible alarm smoke detector that mounts on a wall or ceiling, the shake-up receiver, and a bed/pillow vibrator. The other combination includes the smoke detector, the receiver and a 100 candela strobe light. Both systems are portable. POWER: Smoke detector unit runs on a 9-volt battery. The receiver unit plugs into a standard alternating current (AC) wall outlet. DIMENSIONS: Receiver is 3 x 5 inches and the vibrator is 2 x 3 inches.     The SideKick Receiver is a signal system designed to monitor household sounds such as telephone ringers, smoke detectors, or doorbells for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. This all-in-one device alerts to everyday events by flashing a bright strobe light. Four indicator lights on the face plate light under the appropriate signal, eliminating confusion as to which sound activated the receiver. In the case of fire, the strobe keeps flashing until it is reset. The receiver reaches a range of up to 100 feet. The basic kit includes the Sidekick receiver, the telephone transmitter, and the doorbell transmitter. POWER: Uses standard household current.     The Silent Call Sleep Alert Charger Unit is a battery charger designed to be used with Silent Call Receivers (see separate entries). Connecting the receiver to this unit enables 24-hour operation of the system while the batteries are recharged by plugging the charger into a wall outlet. The unit can also be used with optional strobes and vibrators.

  15. SILENT CALL TRANSMITTERS (TELEPHONE, DOORBELL, SMOKE DETECTOR, HAND-HELD PAGER, AND PENDANT PAGER)

    The Silent Call Transmitters are wireless signal transmitters designed to alert persons who are deaf or hard of hearing to different household activities and sounds. When a signal is sent from the transmitter, it is picked up by the receiver and then indicated through a strobe, vibrator or other warning device. These transmitters work with any Silent Call receiver (see separate entries) to indicate either the telephone (Model SC-TEL), the doorbell (Model SC-DB), the smoke detector (Model SC-SMOKE), or a pager (Models SC-1004-1 and SC-1004-2). The telephone transmitter is connected to a modular jack. The doorbell transmitter is attached to the wiring of the existing doorbell and is activated by the same current that operates the chime. The smoke detector is activated by smoke and then its internal transmitter sends the proper coded signal to the receiver. POWER: All transmitters are battery operated. OPTIONS: The Doorbell Transmitter is available with a doorbell button for those who so not have an existing doorbell. WARRANTY: Five years

    The Silent Server Receiver is a telephone and doorbell signal designed for use by indivisuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. The device is designed to sit on a bedside nightstand and, used in conjunction with the Doorbell and Telephone Transmitters (sold separately; see entries) monitors the telephone and the doorbell.   17. TM-60 TIMER

    The TM-60 is a timer with a built-in transmitter designed to provide tactile signalling to individuals with hearing disabilities. It is designed to operate in conjunction with the Silent Call Omni Page, Omni Page II, or Vibra-Call receivers (see separate entries). The timer is set by turning the dial to the desired number of minutes. When the timer reaches zero, the built in transmitter sends a signal to the receiver, which in turn vibrates and lights up a combination of display lights. The system can transmit up to 100 feet. POWER: Operates on a 12-volt battery.

  18. VIBRA-CALL SYSTEM

    Vibra-Call is a telephone and doorbell signal system designed to alert deaf or deaf-blind persons to a variety of audio household stimuli. The user wears a small receiver unit that vibrates in response to a signal from any of several transmitters around the house or workplace. The user then presses each of the four push-button switches on the top panel of the receiver; this causes the receiver to revibrate to indicate which transmitter was activated. The system can be used with one receiver and as many transmitters as desired. OPTIONS: Components may also be purchased separately, including a smoke detector, a doorbell transmitter, a telephone transmitter, a rechargeable sound monitor, a pager transmitter for signalling between persons, and a pillow vibrator.     The ViBraille Clock is a vibrating alarm clock designed for use by individuals who are deaf and blind.     Weather Alert is a weather alert system designed for use by individuals with hearing disabilities. This device monitors all National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather bureau channels, as well as Canadian channels, to receive weather alerts. Standard features include 15 programmable state/county selections to screen false or other area warnings, three warning lights to indicate the level of the alert, an LCD readout of the type of alert, a full-featured LCD clock with alarm functions, a top firing speaker with a 90-decibel warning signal, and an external jack. The system is available as the alert only or as the alert with the choice of a vibrator, a transmitter, or a flashing light. POWER: Uses standard household current with battery backup.   8. GENTEX REMOTE VISUAL SIGNAL WITH UNIVERSAL MOUNTING PLATE (MODELS GXS-120-177 & GXS-4-110)

    The Gentex Remote Visual Signal with Universal Mounting Plate is a remote fire alarm signal system designed for individuals with hearing disabilities. Both models are identified with the word "FIRE" and flash 60 times per minute. Model GXS-120-177 is a 177 candela, 120-volt unit and model GXS-4-110 is a 110 candela, 24-volt unit. Model GSX-120-177 is available in a wall-mounted or a ceiling-mounted model.

  9. GENTEX 710CS & 710CSW

    The Gentex 710CS is a photoelectric single station smoke detector for use where audible and visual alarms are required. This model features a 90 decibel (db) solid state piezo signal and a strobe light with red "FIRE" lettering. The 710CS may be placed in a main room with a remote receiver in another room. The strobe on the receiver will flash when the main detector flashes. It utilizes a pulsing LED light source and a photodiode sensor in a fully screened sensing chamber to detect smoke. The high intensity strobe is 120 candela and flashes 60-90 times per minute. The operating voltage is 120 VAC, 60 Hz and the operating current is 0.300 amps. Nominal sensitivity of smoke detection is 2.0% obscuration. Both models are designed to be hardwired to the building electrical system. Model 710CS is designed for ceiling mounting and model 710CSW is designed for wall mounting. OPTION: Audible only detector, 7100F, is available. It must be used with a remote strobe receiver.   10. GENTEX 710LS

    The Gentex 710LS is a portable photoelectric smoke alarm with a nine foot linecord, a strobe light with red "FIRE" lettering and a 90db audible signal. Each detector has a nominal sensitivity of 2.5%; a three position test knob that tests the least sensitive and most sensitive smoke settings; and a solid state LED condition indicator. It utilizes a pulsing LED light source and a photodiode sensor in a fully screened sensing chamber to detect smoke. The high intensity strobe is 120 candela and flashes 60-90 times per minute.     The Heavy Duty Bed Vibrator is designed for use by individuals with hearing disabilities. Designed to be placed under the user's pillow, this device plugs into flashing alarm clocks equipped with a jack for a vibrator and is triggered in conjunction with the alarm.   12. MINICOM IV

    The Minicom IV is a text telephone (TT) or telecommunication device for the deaf (TDD). The device features an easy-touch 43-key, 4-row keyboard; a bright, tilted 20-character display; and a printer port for connecting to an external printer (not included). This text telephone also offers Turbo Code to provide greater user control over the speed and pace of conversations and an Auto ID feature to automatically notify parties being called that a text telephone is being used.   13. SUPERCOM & SUPERCOM 4400

    The Supercom is a desktop telecommunications device for the deaf (TDD or TT). Standard features include direct connect, auto-answer, remote message retrieval, keyboard dialing, memory dialing, and redialing features, as well as a printing port to connect with an external printer. The 8k non-volatile memory enables the user to save and send messages, store up to 10 different phone numbers, and store and send personal auto-answer messages. Supercom features the TDD Announcer, a voice announcement that alerts hearing people to text telephone calls. This device connects directly to the telephone line and automatically answers calls with the owner's personal message. This model features a 20-character, vacuum fluorescent display with a .25 inch character height. The keyboard has 43-key, 4-row QWERTY layout. The unit consists of a TDD keyboard and electronic display, and a built-in printer. The date and time is printed at the beginning of each call. There is an 8K memory with 10 buffers to save and send messages, and store phone numbers in memory. The last 3,000 characters of conversation are automatically stored and may be reprinted. Superprint ES can accept calls in either ASCII (computer) or Baudot code. An Auto-Answer feature works as an answering machine to record TDD calls. OPTIONS: Optional printer port is available for $29.00. Also available are a dust cover for $9.95 and a soft carrying case for $29.95. WARRANTY: One year limited.   15. UNIPHONE 1000 & 1100

    The Uniphone 1000 & the Uniphone 1100 are combination text telephones (TT or telecommunications device for the deaf, TTY/TDD) and standard telephones with voice carry over designed to allow persons who are deaf or hard of hearing and hearing individuals to use the same telephone. The unit is compact and features a display so that persons with hearing disabilities but enough speech to converse can speak directly to the party they are calling and read the responses as text. Other features include volume control; an amplified handset; Turbo Code, which allows real time transmissions and interruptions; Auto ID, which automatically sends signals to alert people to an incoming TT call; and a two line, 2 x 24 character display.
