  1. CAMELEON Picture of CAMELEON

    The Cameleon is a voice output communication aid and environmental control unit designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. This dynamic communication aid provides synthesized speech from simple messages to complex sentences, using symbols, text, or both. It has a large, bright screen that can display symbols from a range of communication libraries and languages, as well as pictures from digital cameras and other sources. Input options include a mouse, keyboard, switch, switch joystick, joystick, head pointer, or touch screen, depending on the software used. The unit has an internal environmental control for infrared devices. It can be fitted to a desk stand or be wheelchair mounted. OPTIONS: Communication, literacy, and computer access software using PCS, Rebus, Bliss, or other symbol sets; input hardware; mounting hardware. POWER: Uses internal batteries, household current, external battery pack, or electric wheelchair battery.

    Cameleon CamPac 2 is a keyboard communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. The system is based around a standard notebook computer with the addition of a voice synthesizer and amplified speaker. It comes with a standard notebook software bundle including Windows, and works with the manufacturer's standard communication software and vocabularies. POWER: Uses separate batteries for the amplifier and notebook computer. Additional batteries are available. OPTIONS: Additional software and Gewa Prog 3 (see entry) environmental control transmitter.

    The Companion Remote Control unit, model HC1800C, is a remote environmental control unit designed for use by individuals with mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. Using infrared and radio frequency technology, the unit can control many appliances in the home or workplace, including alarms, intercoms, door locks, door openers, window openers, lifts, telephones with loudspeakers, nurse call, pager, communication aids and computers, power sockets, lights, curtain openers, blinds, electrically adjustable beds and chairs, television, teletext, satellite and cable TV, video, hi-fi, radio, and DVD players. The unit can store over 250 infrared commands. Menu functions are programmed using integral set up buttons. The screen is clear and bright, and for users with visual impairments the unit can speak each option in the menus. It has an integral amplifier, a removable battery cover, a real- time clock with a daily alarm function, and the capability to store fast infrared signals for satellite/cable TV systems.     The Possum Compact is a remote environmental control unit designed for use by individuals with mobility disabilities, severe physical disabilities, or spinal cord injury. This unit's programmable menu functions allow remote control of household electrical appliances and security and access systems. Although most functions are controlled via infrared, a radio transmitter is also provided for emergency functions such as triggering an alarm, pager, or door opener. All programmed functions can be viewed via the unit's backlit scanning menu. Auditory tones assist users with low vision. The unit can be operated via the built-in push button or any standard mono input switch. In Sequence Mode or Scenes Mode the user can control several functions from one switch. The unit is lightweight with simple mounting for portability within different rooms in a home. OPTIONS: Remote sensors to control items in other rooms and Possum PIRL for sudsidiary control of computers and communication aids. POWER: Uses battery. DIMENSIONS: 190 x 75 x 35 millimeters.     The Possum Freeway, model HC2000B, is a portable environmental control unit designed for use by individuals with mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This unit provides simple remote control of domestic appliances such as TV, video, stereo, lights, lamps, power sockets, alarms, intercoms, door, window and curtain openers, loud speaking telephones, and pagers. The unit has a large backlit scanning display with the option of icons or text. Functions can be changed by slotting in a different front panel. The size of the icons on the menu is determined by the number of functions; for example, a four function menu has larger squares than a 10 function menu. Between one and 32 user-definable functions can be controlled per menu. Other features include voice announcement of selections and the ability to record and replay basic spoken phrases. The unit can be operated by a wide range of input switches, including a wireless remote control switch. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 311 x 116 x 52 millimeters. WEIGHT: 925 grams.

    Primo! Controller is a touchscreen environmental control module designed for use by individuals with mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This module for controlling the home environment has a touch-sensitive, dynamic screen in an ergonomically styled, lightweight case. It holds up to 140 captured infrared codes as well as embedded Possum and Gewa codes in multiple menus. A library of 104 generic clear icons and text labels and 18 'get started’ device templates are included. The touch screen can be used for direct access or as a large switch for scanning. There are two input sockets providing single- or dual-switch scanning control, as well as two programmable auxiliary outputs for control of third-party devices. Other features include a text based status display; pause and loop capability; adjustable volume, brightness, and scan speeds; day or night mode; radio frequency (RF) output to operate Possum relays and pager; a telephone book with 30 stored numbers with fast dial option; personal computer (PC) backup software with email option; and a cargiver mode for changing telephone numbers and basic functions. POWER: Uses batteries with visual and audible low battery indication. OPTIONS: Wall, floor, table, or wheelchair mounting.

  7. PROTEOR DIALO Picture of PROTEOR DIALO

    Proteor DialO is a keyboard communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. This text-to-speech communication aid has two displays. The personal (front) display has four rows of text for showing messages being composed, up to five word prediction choices, and a sentence prediction choice. The rear display allows a partner to view two lines of text. Both displays feature adjustable contrast and backlighting. The rear display can be turned off for privacy. The device can be connected to a printer and is available with either an English Male or English Female voice. Speech feedback is available at the character, word, and sentence levels as messages are created. The user can also turn off all speech and use the dual displays for visual feedback.

  8. VIVO! CONTROLLER Picture of VIVO! CONTROLLER

    The Vivo! Controller is an environmental control unit designed for use by individuals with mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This wheelchair-mountable unit is configurable to control the environment, make telephone calls, answer and unlock the door, or contact caregivers. It has more than 1,000 functions, and can operate as a remote control with infrared or radio control output, or as a wired switch control with one or two switch scanning methods. It has a full color TFT dynamic display with text- or symbol- based menus that can be adjusted in size or color. Other features include a digital telephone/intercom with built-in loudspeaker; headphones and microphone for privacy; auditory scanning (voice or tones); external volume and scan speed adjustment; communication with recordable messages; message menus for phone/intercom or for any other category; and a clock, with ten timers for voice reminders or for operating appliances. The system includes a remote switch with tactile feedback and with jack sockets for external inputs. POWER: Uses rechargeable bastteries. Remote switch uses double-A batteries.
