1. LEFT ACCELERATOR PEDAL (MODEL LA-2)

   The Left Accelerator Pedal, model LA-2, is an adapted driving control unit designed to enable drivers without the use of their right foot to drive standard vehicles. The unit has a spring-loaded pedal to reduce fatigue and a right foot stopper plate for added safety. The unit is mounted on the floor of the car and can be removed with a one-hand quick-release operation.

2. SCOTT DRIVING SYSTEM

   The Scott Driving system is a one-hand driving control system designed to enable quadriplegics, paraplegics, persons with limited or no use of one or more limbs, and persons with other disabilities to perform all driving tasks without assistance, including entering and leaving the vehicle. DRIVING CONTROL SYSTEM: A single lever system combines all actual driving functions. Forward movement of the control column actuates the accelerator. Backward movement applies the brakes. Rotation of the mini-wheel or three- post device steers the vehicle. A maximum force of 6 ounces is required for control. The mini-wheel may be preferred by individuals with finger dexterity; the three-post device may better accommodate the needs of persons without finger or wrist motion. A total rotation of 180 degrees is required with the 3-post device, and either 180 or 270 degrees can be used with the mini-wheel. The three-post device is available in a right- or a left-hand model. STEERING SYSTEM: Steering is accomplished through a closed-loop hydraulic mechanical system. Primary hydraulic power is provided by the engine. An automatic emergency back-up system is provided which is activated in the event of engine failure or any failure in the primary system. The emergency system can also be activated manually. ELECTRICAL CONTROL SYSTEM: An electrical system is provided which brings all of the vehicle's electrical controls to a series of illuminated light- contact push pads on a control panel within easy reach of the driver. Any eight of the controls can be duplicated in the center of the mini-wheel for one-handed operation. Duplication of the controls in other positions as required is also possible. BRAKES: A tandem vacuum-boosted brake system with a separate storage reservoir is provided as a back-up to the vehicle's power brake system. The total fore and aft movement of the control column from full throttle to full brake is approximately seven inches. CHAIR HOLD- DOWN SYSTEM: This system is designed to securely retains the chair and driver. The chair is automatically latched in place when the driver enters the control station and is released by depressing a button on the control panel. The built-in alarm warns the driver if the wheelchair is not in proper position. ENTRY SYSTEMS: An entry package which incorporates an electrically operated wheelchair lift with power door openers is included in the system. Controls are provided outside the vehicle and inside the vehicle both at the lift itself and at the driving station. VEHICLE SPECIFICATIONS: The Ford E-150 van is the standard vehicle for this system. This van has 302 cubic inches and a V-8 engine. Basic equipment required is power steering, power brakes, heavy-duty electrical system, extra cooling, and a handling package. The Ford rear air conditioning or the dual battery system cannot be used. The use of auxiliary fuel tanks will depend on the floor lowering option.

3. WAVEGRIP GRAB RAIL SYSTEM

   Wavegrip Grab Rails are wall grab bars for installation in bathrooms and other areas where additional support is needed for persons with disabilities, children, or seniors. The grab bars are available in straight or bent (45- or 90-degrees) models. The bars feature a continuous "wave" pattern ergonomically designed to fit the contours of the hand. The tubing is made of aluminum and plastics that are permanently bonded to one another and finished with a polyamide surface finish. All parts are easy to clean due to the outer coating, and the fixings are covered to eradicate dirt- accumulating areas. The modular construction of the units allows the Holding Grips to be removed for cleaning or attached with extension Grip Pieces (see separate entry) for various configurations. DIMENSIONS: Straight grips come in lengths of 12, 16, 18, 24, 30, 32, 36, 42 and 48 inches. The 42- and 48-inch models have a center wall support leg. The bent grips are 16 inches long on each side and have a wall support leg at the point of the bend. COLOR: Three standard colors (violet purple, ultramarine blue, and carmine red) and pure white are available at no charge. Other colors may be chosen as options.

4. WAVEGRIP GRIP PIECES

   The Wavegrip Grip Pieces are wall grab bars for use in bathrooms around the toilet, in the tub or shower, or in other areas where secure support may be needed for persons with disabilities, seniors, or children. The grip pieces are modular units that may be combined to fit any room, including interior and exterior corners. Different configurations and lengths of handrails may be designed with two models: straight pieces for extension, and open-ended pieces with one wall mount. The tubing features a continuous "wave" pattern ergonomically designed to fit the contours of the hand. The supports are made of aluminum and plastics that are permanently bonded to one another, and a polyamide surface finish. All parts are removable for cleaning or for changing configurations. Fixings are covered to eradicate dirt-accumulating areas. DIMENSIONS: Extension grips come in lengths of 14, 20, 26, 32, and 38 inches; pieces with one wall mount are available in lengths of 16, 22, 28, 34, and 40 inches.    The Wavegrip Support Grips are wall grab bars for use in the bathroom or other areas where support is needed for persons with disabilities or seniors to have a secure hand hold. The U-shaped grips are available in a rigid or folding version. For the swivel mechanism of the folding version, an adjustable brake prevents unwanted folding down of the unit in all positions. The ergonomically designed tubing has a continuous "wave" pattern that fits the contours of the hands. The supports are made of aluminum and plastics that are permanently bonded to one another, and have a polyamide surface finish. All parts are cleanable due to this outer coating, and the fixings are covered to eradicate dirt-accumulating areas. These modular components are compatible with Wavegrip handrails and other holding grips (see separate entries) to provide a support system that will negotiate the interior and exterior corners of an entire room. The components are affixed to pre-installed wall mounting plates and can be removed for cleaning or changed to create different configurations.
