  1. BRAILLE IN Picture of BRAILLE IN

    Braille In is a Braille keyboard designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. Braille In connects to the keyboard port of a personal computer and requires no resident software on the computer, which allows this keyboard to work with any operating system. Braille In has eight Braille keys, a space bar, and ten function keys, and provides support for a full 102-key keyboard, including key combinations with Shift, ALT, CTRL, etc. Its ergonomic design makes long documents easier to enter. A national Braille code and keyboard emulation are pre-installed, but can be changed by loading a new translation table configuration into flash memory. Braille In includes a keyboard unit with adapter, software for loading new Braille tables, and a manual in print and on disk. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Personal computer with DIN or PS2 keyboard port and serial port. WARRANTY: One year.

    The Braillex EL 2D-80, Braillex EL 2D-66, and Braillex EL 2D-40 are refreshable braille displays designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. The Braillex EL 2D models all have a standard horizontal Braille display, which presents lines from a computer screen in Braille, together with a vertical positional display that shows the cursor's location on the computer screen. By touching a routing key built into the positional display, users can quickly move the Braille display to desired locations on the computer screen. The Braillex EL 2D-80 has an 80-cell Braille display and a 20-cell vertical positional display, the Braillex EL 2D-66 has a 66-cell Braille display and a 13-cell vertical display, and the Braillex EL 2D-40 has a 40-cell Braille display and a 13-cell vertical display. The Braillex EL 2D models all have a thumb-operated lever that enables users to move around the screen without lifting their fingers from the Braille display. The lever can also be used for keyboard functions such as Tab, Shift, Control, ALT, Enter, and Escape. A hard-sided carrying case, a cable for connecting the display to a computer via a serial port, and a copy of the DosDOTS screen reader program for DOS are included. POWER: Uses 100 volts or 240 volts alternating current (AC). OPTIONS: Screen reader program for Windows 9X/ME, Windows NT/2000, Linux, or OS/2.     The Braillex EL 80, Braillex EL 40 Desktop, and Braillex EL 40P are refreshable braille displays designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. All three models have a standard horizontal Braille display, which presents lines from a computer screen in Braille. The Braillex EL 80 has an 80-cell Braille display, and the Braillex EL 40 Desktop and Braillex EL 40P models each have a 40-cell Braille display. The Braillex EL 40 Desktop is ergonomically optimized for use with a desktop computer, and its width corresponds to the width of a standard computer keyboard. The Braillex EL 40P is a portable model optimized for connection with a notebook computer or Braille notetaker. All three models have a thumb-operated lever that enables users to move around the screen without lifting their fingers from the Braille display. The lever can also be used for keyboard functions such as Tab, Shift, Control, ALT, Enter, and Escape. A hard-sided carrying case, a cable for connecting the display to a computer via a serial port, and a copy of the DosDOTS screen reader program for DOS are included with each model. The Braillex EL 40P also comes with a cable for connecting via a USB port.     The Braillex Tiny is a portable refreshable braille display designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. The Braillex Tiny has a 40-cell Braille display with integrated cursor-routing. Thumb-operated controls enable users to move around the screen and use computer function keys without lifting their fingers from the Braille display. When a button is pressed, the Braille display functions as a positional display showing the location of the cursor on the screen. The Braillex Tiny comes with a carrying case, connector cables, and a copy of the DosDOTS screen reader program for DOS. POWER: Uses a NiCad rechargeable battery, or 110 or 240 volts alternating current (AC). OPTIONS: Screen reader program for Windows or OS/2. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 1.1 x 10 x 11.4 inches. WEIGHT: 3.9 pounds with battery.

    The Braillex EL Braille Assistant (ELBA) is a Braille notetaker designed for use by persons who are blind or have low vision. The ELBA features a built-in modem and software providing full Internet and e-mail access. Also included are a word processor, day-planner, scientific calculator, MP3 player, spreadsheet program, database program, and Braille translation program. It uses the Linux operating system. The ELBA has 16 megabytes (MB) of non-volatile flash memory and 32 MB RAM, allowing storage of thousands of documents. Input can be made in either grade 1 or grade 2 Braille. The Braille keyboard is ergonomically designed for comfort during long writing sessions. The Easy Access Bar, a long key on the front of the ELBA, allows the user to scroll up or down quickly while keeping both hands in contact with the Braille display. The ELBA has a RS232 nine-pin serial port and a 25-pin parallel port, and it can function as a Braille terminal or refreshable Braille display for another personal computer. POWER: Uses internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery pack or alternating current (AC) adapter. OPTIONS: Braille or QWERTY keyboard, 32- or 18-cell Braille display, disk drive and memory storage cards, and LCD visual display. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 2 x 8.5 x 11.8 inches. WEIGHT: The 32-cell model weighs 4.5 pounds.
