   The Bright Box is a touch switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury and low vision. This switch has a large-display visual cue that is activated when the user presses the top surface of the switch. The switch can be used to activate communication devices, mouse interfaces, or switch-adapted toys with standard 1/8-inch jacks.    The Chipper is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. This communication aid plays pre-recorded messages up to 20 seconds long with a touch of the unit surface or through a connected external switch. The unit has an external switch jack and adjustable volume, with relay/switch output capabilities for cause effect skill building. A threaded base (large triangle pattern) allows the unit to be mounted to Adaptivation's Magic Arm (see separate entry) or other mounting systems. POWER: Uses a 9-volt battery (included). 4. DIPSY SWITCH

   The Dipsy Switch is a motion sensitive switch designed for use by individuals with severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This tilt-sensitive switch can be attached to the head, arm, finger or any appropriate object and can be activated by body movements such as tilting the head forward, tilting the head back, or lifting a finger. It can also be attached to objects such as a rocking chair. The switch is activated by a 30-degree tilt to limit false activation. It can also be adjusted for sensitivity by increasing or decreasing its mounting angle. It can be plugged into any communication aid, environmental control or battery-adapted device that has a standard 1/8-inch jack. The switch comes with a Velcro-sensitive headband and two Velcro-sensitive finger mounts, which can also be used to secure the cord to the headband. An idea guide is also included. 5. FLEXIBLE SWITCH

   The Flexible Switch is a pressure contact switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity disabilities. This switch can be activated with a light touch at either a direct or shallow angle. It can be plugged into any communication device or battery operated assistive device. 6. FREEHAND STARTER KIT

   The Freehand Starter Kit is an environmental control device designed for use by individuals with upper extremity or severe physical disabilities. This unit allows any alternating current (AC) appliance such as lamps or fans to be activated wirelessly when used in conjunction with an X-10 transceiver module (see entries). Activation can also take place from across a room or down a hall (within a range of 75 feet) due to the utilization of radio frequencies. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 2.25 x 3.5 x 3.5 inches. 7. FREESWITCH MAX (MODEL FSM-100)

   FreeSwitch Max, model FSM-100, is a scanning remote control switch designed for use by individuals with severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. It allows wireless activation of nearly any AC (alternating current) appliance, including lamps, blow dryers, fans, and popcorn makers. The system is X-10 compatible. Appliances can be activated through direct selection by touching the keypad or an external switch. For example, by connecting a Pal Pad external switch (see separate entry) to the input, the operator can touch a picture of a stereo on top of the Pal Pad to turn the stereo on. The device can visually scan through images of eight appliances or auditorily scan through four 5-second messages, such as "stereo on." To produce the desired action, the user presses a switch or button after the corresponding image or message has been scanned. Messages are heard through the built-in speaker or through headphones. Positive, inverse, and step scanning are available with a variable scan rate. The system includes separate transmitter and receiver units with no power cords. All four channels on the transmitter unit control AC appliances in momentary, latching, and timing modes. Timing is adjustable from 1 second to 60 minutes. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 1.8 x 4 x 6.5 inches.

8. LEX

   Lex is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. Three messages of up to 20 seconds each can be recorded and stored for single message playback. Messages can be recorded in any order. The device can be used as a stand-alone communication aid or paired with TalkingMyWay Object Communication cards (not included) to create talking schedules. The device can be used for multi-room communication stations, and can be attached to a wall or placed on a tray or table-top. The volume is adjustable. POWER: Uses 4 triple-A batteries (included). 9. LINKSWITCH (MODEL DLT-201 & DLT-202)

   The LinkSwitch, model DLT-201, is a control switch interface designed to activate battery operated assistive devices with additional switches for individuals with limited movement or motor control. The user simply plugs a Taction Pad (see separate entry) (or any other switch) into the LinkSwitch, then touches the Taction Pad to activate adapted toys, keyboard interfaces, tape recorders, battery interrupters, sensory stimulus devices, or any other battery-operated device. 10. PAL PAD

    The Pal Pad is a touch switch designed for use by individuals with fine motor and upper extremity disabilities. This switch can be activated with only 1.2 ounces of force, and the activating touch can be applied from directly above or at a shallow angle. This touch switch can be plugged into any communication aid or battery operated assistive device. It is a flat membrane switch that is very rigid and durable, and tolerant of rough usage. It comes with a foam rubber backing that can be attached to the back to minimize slipping. SIZES: Mini, small, and large. The user can create his or her own object-based switch.

12. RANDOMIZER

    Randomizer is a random message communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. This device can record a series of messages and play them back in a random order. There are two levels for recording, with 45 seconds of record time (short play) or 90 seconds of record time (long play) per level. Levels are independent and messages can be recorded in any order. Messages can be played by touching the surface of the device or using a connected external switch. Relay/switch output capabilities can be used for cause-effect skill building. Other uses include greetings, rolling dice, choosing colors for a game, and picking teammates. Volume is adjustable. The device has an external switch jack and a relay jack for cuase-and-effect use. 13. SEQUENCER

    Sequencer is a direct selection sequential messaging communicator designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. This device enables the user to play a series of pre-recorded messages in succession by pressing a single switch repeatedly. The unit has two independent levels with 45 seconds of record time per level (short play) or 90 seconds of record time per level (long play). Pressing the switch once causes message one to play. Pressing it again activates mesage two, then three, and so on. Message sequences can be played either with a touch of the device's surface through a connected external switch. A threaded base with a large triangle pattern allows mounting on Adaptivation's Magic Arm (see entry) or other mounting systems. 14. SWITCHBOARD

    SwitchBoard is a portable switch touch switch designed for use with communication devices. The unit has six built-in pressure switches with clear overlay pockets in which pictures or symbols can be placed. To use, plug the cords from the SwitchBoard into the external switch jacks of any communication aid. When a switch on the SwitchBoard is touched, the appropriate pre-recorded message plays. DIMENSIONS: 16 x 12 x 5/32 inches.

15. TACTION PADS

    Taction Pads are touch switches designed to adhere to any surface or object for individuals who have limited upper mobility or movement. These pads are clear, touch-sensitive plastic patches that have an adhesive back and are designed to activate any device that it is plugged into them simply by touching them. When the Taction Pad is plugged into one of Adaptivation's assistive devices (see entries), the Taction Pad activates the device by touch (moisture) or by the use of conductive foam (sold separately). Taction Pads were designed to operate specifically with Adaptivation's touch-activated devices, and will not work with other assistive devices or adapted toys unless accompanied by the LinkSwitch (see entry).     The Talking Photo Album is a voice output photo album designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. This device can function as a communication tool or it can be used to create a talking slide show or talking storybook. The album has 24 pages for holding photos, with 10 seconds of recording time per page, and comes with an idea sheet. POWER: Uses 2 triple-A batteries (included). 17. VOICEPAL 8

    VoicePal 8 is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive or communication disabilities. Up to eight 11-second messages can be recorded and played back on this communication aid by touching an Adaptivation Taction Pad touch switch (included) or any commercially available adaptive switch. Messages can be recorded in any order. The device does not lose messages even if the batteries go completely dead. Other features include a repeat message mode in which messages are repeated as many as 10 times when the switch is held down, and delayed activation to give the user time to identify objects before pressing the Taction Pad or other external switch.     VoicePal Levels is a direct selection or scanning communicator designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. It is a four-level, customizable, natural-voice communication aid that can adapt to the changing skills of the user. Each level carries up to 10 messages. Messages can be accessed by direct selection using the onboard keypad, by plugging adaptive switches into the external jacks, or by visual or auditory scanning. Keypad presentation is customizable for two, three, five, or ten messages by slipping a symbol or picture overlay into a built-in pouch. The total recording time is 17.5 minutes. The device has a relay (toy-appliance) jack for connection with an extrernal device to build cause-effect relationship skills.    Big Buddy Buttons are touch switches designed to enable individuals with severe physical, motor control, or upper extremity disabilities or spinal cord injury to control switch-adapted devices. Devices connected to the switches can be activated by pressing anywhere on the large top surface. Activation can be accomplished by exerting 5.3 ounces of force on the switch edges or 10.7 ounces of force at the center. A non-slip rubber base is included with each button. 2. BIG RED SWITCH

   The Big Red Switch is a touch switch designed to enable individuals with upper extremity disabilities to control switch-adapted devices, appliances, or toys. Made of shatterproof plastic this switch has a large, bright target for easy access and activation. The entire target surface is responsive, and the switch pad is sensitive to less than three ounces of pressure. This switch provides audible feedback on activation. DIMENSIONS: 5 x 5 x 0.75 inches. 3. BUDDY BUTTON SWITCHES

   Buddy Buttons are touch switches designed designed to provide computer accessibility or to activate toys and appliances for children who have physical and/or visual disabilities. These single switches are activated by pressing anywhere on the top surface: the force to activate around the edges, 3.5 ounces, almost half the force required in the center, 7.5 ounces. Two threaded inserts on the bottom of the switch to allow for secure mounting on the TASH Mighty Mount (see separate entry) or other mounts. These switches also provide tactile and auditory feedback and can be plugged into any switch interface and used with any switch adaptable program. COLORS: Red, green, purple, black, pink, yellow and blue. They are also available with various designs such as plaid, polka dots, bullseyes, and happy face.

4. GRASP SWITCH

   The Grasp Switch is a squeeze switch designed to be activated by pinching or squeezing for individuals with upper extremity disabilities. The tube-shaped switch features a foam hand grip that is soft to the touch while providing firm support. Activation requires 11 ounces of pressure. There is no auditory or tactile feedback provided. DIMENSIONS: The switch is 5.5 inches long and 1.4 inches diameter.

5. JELLY BEAN SWITCH

   The Jelly Bean Switch is a button or touch switch designed to control a wide range of electrically- or battery-operated devices and toys for people with upper extremity disabilities. The switch is contained in a high-impact disk and the entire surface of the switch is sensitive to pressure, requiring less than two ounces of pressure for activation. The Jelly Bean Switch can be mounted on any surface using readily available adhesives or they can be mounted on AbleNet's Slim Armstrong (see separate entry) or other switch mounting hardware for head control or control by other body parts. This switch comes with four interchangeable tops, enabling the user to change switch colors as desired. DIMENSIONS: The switch is 2.5 inches in diameter and 3 inches tall at its highest point. 6. PERSONAL PAGER

   The Personal Pager is a tactile paging system designed to signal the caregiver that help is needed for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities or who spend long periods in bed. Simply push the button on the device and a small transmitter sends an electronic signal to the receiver notifying the caregiver. The signal can be sent up to 100 feet. The transmitter comes with a cord for wearing around the neck so that it is always handy. The receiver can be set to chime or vibrator (for caregivers who have hearing disabilities or who are in noisy environments). The receiver has a clip for attachment to a belt or it can be set on a desk or table. Pressing the transmitter causes it to sound for four or five seconds. Pressing the transmitter without releasing causes it to sound continuously. POWER: Transmitter uses a 12-volt battery (included) and receiver uses two double-A batteries (not included). DIMENSIONS: The neck lanyard is 16 inches long.

7. SPECS SWITCH

   The Specs Switch is a button or touch switch designed to control battery- or electrically-powered devices, appliances, or toys for individuals with upper extremity disabilities.
