The Bright Box is a touch switch designed for use by individuals with upper extremity or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury and low vision. This switch has a large-display visual cue that is activated when the user presses the top surface of the switch. The switch can be used to activate communication devices, mouse interfaces, or switch-adapted toys with standard 1/8-inch jacks. DIPSY SWITCH
The Dipsy Switch is a motion sensitive switch designed for use by individuals with severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This tilt-sensitive switch can be attached to the head, arm, finger or any appropriate object and can be activated by body movements such as tilting the head forward, tilting the head back, or lifting a finger. It can also be attached to objects such as a rocking chair. The switch is activated by a 30-degree tilt to limit false activation. It can also be adjusted for sensitivity by increasing or decreasing its mounting angle. It can be plugged into any communication aid, environmental control or battery-adapted device that has a standard 1/8-inch jack. The switch comes with a Velcro-sensitive headband and two Velcro-sensitive finger mounts, which can also be used to secure the cord to the headband. An idea guide is also included. FREESWITCH MAX (MODEL FSM-100)
FreeSwitch Max, model FSM-100, is a scanning remote control switch designed for use by individuals with severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. It allows wireless activation of nearly any AC (alternating current) appliance, including lamps, blow dryers, fans, and popcorn makers. The system is X-10 compatible. Appliances can be activated through direct selection by touching the keypad or an external switch. For example, by connecting a Pal Pad external switch (see separate entry) to the input, the operator can touch a picture of a stereo on top of the Pal Pad to turn the stereo on. The device can visually scan through images of eight appliances or auditorily scan through four 5-second messages, such as "stereo on." To produce the desired action, the user presses a switch or button after the corresponding image or message has been scanned. Messages are heard through the built-in speaker or through headphones. Positive, inverse, and step scanning are available with a variable scan rate. The system includes separate transmitter and receiver units with no power cords. All four channels on the transmitter unit control AC appliances in momentary, latching, and timing modes. Timing is adjustable from 1 second to 60 minutes. DIMENSIONS (HxLxW): 1.8 x 4 x 6.5 inches.

LEX
Lex is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. Three messages of up to 20 seconds each can be recorded and stored for single message playback. Messages can be recorded in any order. The device can be used as a stand-alone communication aid or paired with TalkingMyWay Object Communication cards (not included) to create talking schedules. There are two levels for recording, with 45 seconds of record time (short play) or 90 seconds of record time (long play) per level. Levels are independent and messages can be recorded in any order. SwitchBoard is a portable switch touch switch designed for use with communication devices. The unit has six built-in pressure switches with clear overlay pockets in which pictures or symbols can be placed. To use, plug the cords from the SwitchBoard into the external switch jacks of any communication aid. When a switch on the SwitchBoard is touched, the appropriate pre-recorded message plays. TACTION PADS
Taction Pads are touch switches designed to adhere to any surface or object for individuals who have limited upper mobility or movement. These pads are clear, touch-sensitive plastic patches that have an adhesive back and are designed to activate any device that it is plugged into them simply by touching them. When the Taction Pad is plugged into one of Adaptivation's assistive devices (see entries), the Taction Pad activates the device by touch (moisture) or by the use of conductive foam (sold separately). Taction Pads were designed to operate specifically with Adaptivation's touch-activated devices, and will not work with other assistive devices or adapted toys unless accompanied by the LinkSwitch (see entry). Up to eight 11-second messages can be recorded and played back on this communication aid by touching an Adaptivation Taction Pad touch switch (included) or any commercially available adaptive switch. Messages can be recorded in any order. The device does not lose messages even if the batteries go completely dead. BUDDY BUTTON SWITCHES
Buddy Buttons are touch switches designed designed to provide computer accessibility or to activate toys and appliances for children who have physical and/or visual disabilities. These single switches are activated by pressing anywhere on the top surface: the force to activate around the edges, 3.5 ounces, almost half the force required in the center, 7.5 ounces. PERSONAL PAGER
The Personal Pager is a tactile paging system designed to signal the caregiver that help is needed for individuals with physical or cognitive disabilities or who spend long periods in bed. Simply push the button on the device and a small transmitter sends an electronic signal to the receiver notifying the caregiver. The signal can be sent up to 100 feet. The transmitter comes with a cord for wearing around the neck so that it is always handy. The receiver can be set to chime or vibrator (for caregivers who have hearing disabilities or who are in noisy environments). The receiver has a clip for attachment to a belt or it can be set on a desk or table. Pressing the transmitter causes it to sound for four or five seconds. Pressing the transmitter without releasing causes it to sound continuously. POWER: Transmitter uses a 12-volt battery (included) and receiver uses two double-A batteries (not included).
