  1. ADAP2U KEYBOARD EMULATOR SYSTEM (MODEL A2U10)

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 4/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Adap2U Keyboard Emulator, model A2U10, is a cursor control interface system designed to provide complete keyboard accesss through any alternative input device for individuals with cerebral palsy, spina bifida, traumatic spinal cord injuries or anyone who have little or no upper limb functionality. It provides transparent access to IBM-PC/AT and compatible computers with any DOS, Windows, or networked applications. A variety of alternative input devices may be used to control the system including the AdaPoint headpointer (see separate entry), mechanical or pneumatic switches, touch screen, joystick, track ball, or other mouse-like devices. Access methods such as scanning, more- or time-coding, direct selection, or other features may be used to adapt the system to the user's needs. All codes or switch activities may be user-defined or selected from standard configurations. In addition to keyboard emulation, serial output may be directed for Microsoft-mouse emulation, voice synthesis, environmental control, or for control of other devices. Other features include 2-color status indicator with beeper; ROM (random only memory) resident menus and RAM (random access memory) for uploaded custom menus; Hercules compatible monochrome monitor plugs; and PC-based software for creating custom menus or configurations. COMPONENTS: The system includes the Adap2U keyboard emulator; 110-volt power supply; software on 5.25 and 3.5-inch diskettes; starting menus, sets, and configurations; and User's Manual/Developer's Guide. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM PC AT-compatible computer. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: IBM at compatible 286 or higher, HD, 3.5 inch FD, at least 640K of RAM, MS-DOS 3.1 or higher, a graphics card, monitor (color is recommended), one or more input devices, and a Hercules compatible monochrome monitor with 9-pin connector.   2. ADAPOINT (MODEL ADAPT)

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 4/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The AdaPoint, model ADAPT, is a mouthstick cursor control interface designed for use with the Adap2U keyboard emulator system (see separate entry) for individuals who have little or no upper limb control. This input pointing device may be activated with the mouth or chin and provides mouse-like control of the computer cursor by using a small range of controllable head motion. The unit sits on a desk or may be mounted to an extension arm in front of a computer; it is not tethered to the user. The control movement area is 1.5 inches square, but may be increased with a control stick extension. A Felix driver is supplied (and necessary when using this device without the Adap2U). The system has a serial output. POWER: AC adapter, supplied. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: No software driver is necessary when used with the Adap2U, however, a Microsoft mouse-compatible driver must be used when using the Adap2U mouse passthrough mode with mouse-ready applications software.

  3. SUPER POINTER PLUS

    --- DISCONTINUED. (Verified 4/2000) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Super Pointer Plus is a mouse emulator designed for finger, hand, arm, or foot operation for precise cursor control for individuals who are physically disabled. The pointing devices requires only a small amout of motion to enable precise, responsive, mouse control of PC-based software applications. The easy-to-hold control pad is a silicone dome on a moveable platform. Tremor and unsteadiness can be reduced by applying pressure on the control pad for a smooth resistance. Left and right mouse button selection control is through two external switched which can be plugged into the Pointer's 1/8 inch stereo mini-phone jack (an adapter is included to allow connecting two momentary switches). Special features are added when used with the Adap2U Keyboard and Mouse Emulator (see separate entries). COMPATIBILITY: May be connected directly to a PC.
