  1. BRAILLE HANSONE Picture of BRAILLE HANSONE

    Braille Hansone is a braille notetaker designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It features an eight-key braille keyboard for input, and output through speech and a 32-cell braille display with cursor routing keys. This notetaker uses the Windows CE operating system, and has word processor, Internet, e-mail, address book, calculator, calendar, and watch functions. Users can import and edit documents written on Microsoft Word or on Korean language (Hangul) word processor software from Haansoft Inc. Documents can be printed on an ink printer or braille printer without additional editing or conversion. Document input in braille can be converted into print characters automatically. The notetaker can be connected to other computers running Windows and can display text of the computer through braille and speech. The notetaker has 64 megabytes (MB) of internal flash memory, which can be extended by inserting a PCMCIA-type flash memory card or a USB-type portable flash disk. POWER: Uses lithium ion battery.

  2. BRAILLE SENSE

    Braille Sense is a braille notetaker, refreshable braille display, and digital recorder designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It has an 8-key braille input keyboard and a braille display with 32 braille cells and cursor keys. Other features include an MP3 player, voice recording, and a liquid crystal display (LCD) display for teaching braille to beginners (Korean version only). This device can be used for word processing, file management, writing and reading e-mail, and as a web browser and media player. Utilities include calendar, clock, and calculator functions. Files can be shared with a desktop computer through USB interfaces or with other notetakers through infrared communication. Sound output is through an internal stereo speaker or stereo headphone jack; voice recording uses an internal microphone or an external microphone jack. This unit has two USB and two CF slots, a serial port, and a parallel port. It uses the Windows CE.NET operating system with an Intel X-Scale (PXA255) central processor and 64 megabytes (MB) of Flash memory. The package comes with a carrying bag, manuals in print and braille, a USB cable, a serial cable, and earphones. OPTIONS: Compact flash card, USB stick memory, USB 3.5-inch FDD. The Braille Sense Plus can be used to create, edit, read, and print documents; send and receive e-mail; access the Internet and download files; participate in a live chat; play Daisy-format books; and create and manage an address book and personal schedule. Other features include a calendar, clock, calculator, and online help.     The CANDY, model P500, is a portable handheld video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. The CANDY magnifier features an LCD (liquid crystal display) HD-quality image screen. The HD image quality produces 3 times higher resolution from the camera to the LCD. This magnifier also has folding legs to position the camera above the material to be viewed. The CANDY has three brightness levels and five image modes: natural color; white letters on black background; black letters on white background; negative photo mode; and yellow letters on black background. The 20-inch depth-of-focus, auto-focus camera provides continuous magnification from 1.5X to 22X, and it is positioned in the center of the device. Continuous zoom magnification increases or decreases the size of the text, photo or object being viewed. A protective carrying case is included. The HD image quality produces 3 times higher resolution from the camera to the LCD.     The Internet Videophone is a video display telephone designed for use by individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. This videophone connects over the Internet, and allows users who are deaf to communicate through sign language. An internal/external strobe light and a wireless vibrator module are included to provide notification of incoming calls. The system provides real-time transmission and receipt of message software, so that users who are not proficient in sign language may use text communication via a wireless keyboard.

  7. SENSE VIEW Picture of SENSE VIEW

    Sense View is a video magnifier designed for use by individuals with low vision. This video magnifier can be connected to a television or computer and features an auto-focus camera with high contrast display, focus lock, a Line/Window marker, and a laser pointer. Magnification ranges from three to approximately 70 times original size on a 17 inch monitor. Images can be viewed in full color or in black and white, blue and white, green and white, red and white, black and yellow, or blue and yellow. Normal, Enhanced, and Negative modes are supported in each color combination. The X-Y viewing table features a table lock and handles. Control buttons have voice feedback for confirmation of commands. The current date and time are displayed on the screen. Interfaces include input for an external personal computer (VGA, SVGA, XGA), output for a VGA monitor, and composite and S-Video output for TV. POWER: Uses a 12-volt/3amp power source. Images are magnified on a 480 x 272 pixel digital liquid crystal display (LCD) screen. The unit can also take magnified still shots for closer viewing (for example, a shot of a high display rack). The magnification rate can be increased by pushing a digital magnification button. The display has six color modes (full color, black on white, white on black, yellow on black, yellow on blue, and blue on white) and adjustable brightness. Color mode and brightness are controlled with separate buttons. OPTIONS: External camera module (model P430-PECM) for use in handwriting. POWER: Uses internal rechargeable battery. Battery status can be checked by turning on the battery indicator on the LCD screen. DIMENSIONS: LCD screen is 4.3 inches measured diagonally.

    EVE (Etrek's Vocal Eyes) for Windows is a screen reader program with voice output designed for use by individuals who are blind or have low vision. It reads text in English or Korean, including Chinese characters with Korean pronunciation. Reading modes include full text, word, paragraph, and block unit. Speech speed, volume, and pitch can be controlled by the user. The program shows the current window status by reading the title and status bar and scanning the window. It offers a button list for the current window and a control list feature that allows the user to execute menu commands as well as other necessary commands, and it can also be customized to name visual properties that cannot be text-read. The program supports MS Office, including MS Word and MS Excel; Internet Explorer; and other Windows applications, such as file manager, memo pad, and calculator. The cursor function allows users to move by character, word, or line, or to specific pixel units or locations in the window. COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Pentium 166 megahertz (MHz) or higher processor; 128 megabytes (MB) or higher random access memory (RAM); and Windows 98/ME/2000/XP operating system.
