It features a built-in handle and nine message keys with four distinct levels that can be recorded and re-recorded as necessary. This communicator has six minutes of memory to record up to 36 messages with up to ten seconds per message. A record lock feature eliminates accidental erasure, and a level lock prevents unintentional movement from one level to another. Users can change levels with the press of a button, and built-in key guards make it easier for them to select messages. Overlays are stored inside the device and slide in and out easily. The volume can also be adjusted by choosing one of eight different selections. POWER: Uses two double-A batteries. DIMENSIONS: 9 x 12 x 7/8 inches. The message buttons are two inches square. This portable device records one 10-second message. The user presses the unit's large button to play the message. The built-in magnet holds the button on the refrigerator or any metal surface. POWER: Uses batteries (included). DIMENSIONS: 2 inches in diameter. WEIGHT: Less than one ounce.

    The One by Four Talker is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. This communicator offers four single-message communicators in a single case. The device can be used as a four-button communication aid or as four separate, wearable one-message devices. Transparent pockets hold picture or word cues on top of the case; users press the cue to activate the corresponding message. Each individual unit offers 10 seconds of recording capability. A slide-on belt or pocket clip is included. POWER: Uses batteries (included). DIMENSIONS: The case is 8 7/8 inches x 3.75 inches. Each unit has a 1.5 inch square activation area.     Smart/Talk is a direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. Messages can be recorded and played back on six levels with up to eight 10-second messages per level. The water-resistant membrane panel has eight picture slots for message identification. The unit has four input jacks for switch access, four output jacks to control toys or appliances, and external speaker and record jacks. The unit is equipped with rear-mounted volume and level controls, a carrying handle and shoulder strap, and a carrying cover or carrying case. POWER: Uses rechargeable battery.     Smart/128 is a direct selection communicator and communication board designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. This augmentative and alternative communication device features a removable transparent top grid with 128 locations for recorded messages. Without the grid, the device can be used for pictorial communication. With the grid, messages up to 2.25 seconds long can be recorded and played back on six levels with up to 128 messages per level. The device comes with overlay designer software. As many as 768 independent messages can be recorded and stored on an interchangeable flash memory card. The unit has volume and level controls, external speaker and recording jacks, a carrying handle, and a shoulder strap. OPTIONS: Key guards; carrying cover; carrying case; mounting plate and metal stand. POWER: Uses rechargeable battery. A low battery indicator light is included.

    SuperTalker is a direct selection and sequential message communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities. This eight-level communicator can be configured in four different grid formats with one, two, four, or eight cells, enabling a child to use the same device as his or her abilities and needs change. The unit has 16 minutes of recording time with variable message lengths. A step-ahead switch jack allows single switch users to play back messages sequentially. Other features include matching keyguards for each grid format; built-in keyguard storage; volume control; eight input jacks for single-switch access to any specific location; and compatibility with BoardMaker (see entry) overlay software. POWER: Uses four double-A batteries (not included).

    VoicePod is a digital recorder and playback unit for direct selection communiction cards designed for use by individuals with cognitive, communication, or speech disabilities. This portable recording and playback unit enables the user to create talking cards using photos, language cards and Picture Communication Symbols (PCS). It includes 36 reusable, two-sided sleeves for up to 72 stored messages, which can be up to nine seconds each. Messages can be erased and re-recorded. A record-lock feature prevents accidental erasures. The unit includes an attachable PRESS/PLAY bar. It comes with 36 dual-sided cards, plastic storage boxes, and an instruction book.
