From a sitting position, the user can grasp the crossbar at the top of the frame and pull up to a standing position. To use the Stedy to transfer the user, the caregiver then flips down the seat, and the user sits down and places his or her feet on the footplate. Handles extend from the top front of the frame so that the caregiver can push the user to the desired destination with the user facing the caregiver. 124. SUPERPOLE F.R.S.

     SuperPole F.R.S. is a vertical pole transfer aid designed for use by individuals with balance, mobility, or walking disabilities. The unit is a portable steel pole that provides standing and transferring support in institutional (concrete floor) applications. This is a compact alternative to the SuperPole (see entry) floor to ceiling pole system that eliminates the need for ceiling attachment. The SuperPole FRS is placed into the installed floor receptacle and secured into the receptacle by turning the knob on top of the SuperPole FRS pole. The floor receptacle installs flush with the finished floor surface. When not in use, the floor receptacle is sealed with a liquid-tight flush mount cap. The cap is removed by engaging two pins on the bottom of the pole into two holes in the cap, permitting the cap to be removed by turning it with the pole. The loose cap will not be lost while the pole is in the receptacle, as it has a storage location in the top knob of the pole, covered with a decorative rubber grip.      The SuperPole Traveler is a portable transfer aid designed for use by individuals with balance, walking, or mobility disabilities. Central to the system is a floor-to-ceiling vertical steel grab bar, which provides a secure structure that can be installed in minutes between a floor and ceiling. The unit installs by turning the jackscrew at the bottom of the pole. The screw expands the pole to create enough tension between the floor and ceiling to hold the pole secure. Rubber pads on the ceiling plate and the floor plate hold pole secure and prevent marring of floor and ceiling. For transport and storage, the pole splits into two pieces.      The TubBuddy with Tilt, model SB2T, is a caster shower commode designed for use by individuals with lower extremity, mobility or severe physical disabilities or spinal cord injury. This system allows a caregiver to transfer an individual over the edge of a bathtub for ease in showering or to be rolled over a standard or elongated toilet when used as a commode. For transfer into or out of a shower enclosure, see the ShowerBuddy (see separate entry). The chair can also be used a shower chair for roll-in showers. The TubBuddy features a chair with a cut-out commode seat on a base with four casters and a transfer track with two rails. One end of the transfer track is placed in the bathtub, and its four feet are securely anchored in the tub with rails extending out of the tub over any up to 7.1 inches high. The wheeled base of the chair connects to the transfer track, and the seat detaches from the base and slides along the rails into the bathtub area.      The Walker is a standing aid and gait trainer designed for use by individuals with balance, lower extremity, mobility, or walking disabilities or stroke. The Walker is available with a hydraulic or power lift mechanism that lifts using a U-shaped table for arm support and safety straps that support the user in the crotch. It also has a foldable spade seat that can assist in lifting. One the user, is standing, the Walker can be used as a gait trainer. It has four casters that feature a straight steering mechanism so that the user can be limited to only moving straight ahead and brakes on all casters. This unit also has adjustable handgrips. The safety straps also reduce the body weight on the legs when walking and prevent falls. The powered version is controlled with a handheld pendant controller.      The WaterStopper is a water dam for shower designed for use by individuals with mobility disabilities. This dam prevents wet floors outside a roll in shower while allowing the user to enter the shower in a wheelchair. The T-shaped dam is self-adhesive and sticks to a clean shower floor without epoxy or rubber adhesive. The three-piece kit includes two molded rubber end caps that fit showers from Best Bath Systems but can be used universally to match an existing shower.
