/R/INTENSIVE
/r/intensive is a speech remediation program and a speech training program designed for use by speech therapists and parents working with children who have communication or speech disabilities. The application (or app) allows a child to use an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to improve his or her articulation skills through practicing the production of the /r/ phoneme with a therapist, parent, or independently. The app comes with over 450 target words and uses a phonetic approach to teaching the “r” sound by creating subgroups. The /r/ phoneme at the word level includes: pre-vocalic /r/, /r/ clusters, /rl/, /lr/, /ajer/, /ar/, /er/, /or/, and /?r/. The “Probes” function allows a therapist or parent to probe a child and attempt to indentify a specific environment such as /r/ clusters or /rl/ fon which the child should focus. The therapist or parent can also elect to let the child practice the /r/ phoneme at the phrase level in conjunction with the word level or after the child has mastered the word level. ARTICULATE IT!
Articulate it! is a speech training program and a language tutorial program designed for use by speech and language therapists and parents working with children who have communication or speech disabilities. The application (or app) comes with over 1,200 images in all sounds of the English language, audio recordings for every word present in the program, and all phonemes of the English language. A child can practice saying sounds on his/her own by repeating the voice in the program and skip images he/she does not want to practice. The program also allows a therapist or parent to take notes during practice. Other features include the ability to track multiple students at the same time with separate goals; the ability to group sounds by manner of articulation or phonological processes; built-in voice recording which allows a child to compare his/her pronunciation with the audio recording; and specific result screens that give a child's percentage based on phonemes, position in the words and which words were missed. This application, or app, enables an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to create single page communication boards that can be printed or displayed on a mobile device and used alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) system for people who cannot speak or have difficulty communicating. Custom Boards - Premium includes over 11,000 built in symbols from the Smarty Symbols library and the ability to add your own photos as well as a pool of over 100 templates in 6 areas: Devices and Switches; Grids and Boards; Schedules; Activities; Signs; and Labels and Worksheets. The user selects a template, selects the appropriate images, and edits text for each symbol. Expressive is a voice output direct selection and symbolic communicator program designed for use by individuals with communication cognitive, learning or speech disabilities, autism or low vision. This program enables an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to function as an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) system for people who cannot speak or have difficulty speaking. The program comes with 600 vocabulary pictures using Smarty Symbols. The user selects images he/she wants to communicate, and Expressive will speak the audio files associated with the selected images. Both male and female voices are available. Expressive allows the user to add images to the library and record audio to associate with those images,The program also allows the user to create folders, change background color of folders, arrange images, and hide, delete and add image buttons. IPRACTICE VERBS
iPractice Verbs is a voice output flash card program and a language and vocabulary tutorial program designed for use by language therapists and parents working with children who have cognitive, communication, developmental, hearing, learning, or physical disabilities or autism. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use their Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to help children learn and practice basic English verbs. iPractice Verbs comes with over 120 verbs in present, present progressive, and past tense. It also has corresponding images and audio, totaling almost 1000 stimuli. The user can practice at three different levels - word, phrase and sentence - with the flexibility to select which verbs to practice at any level. There are also two modes available: "Flashcards" and "Find it." The child can practice learning verbs with 'Flashcards" mode. The "Find it" mode is a multiple choice game for selecting the correct verb. When the child selects the correct corresponding image, he or she is rewarded with audio praise; and when the child selects an incorrect image, the choices are narrowed and he or she is encouraged to try again. iTake Turns is a behavior training program designed for use by parents or caregivers working with children with developmental or cognitive disabilities. This application (or app) allows a parent or caregiver to use an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to help children learn the concept of taking turns in order to learn how to take turns in games, conversations and other situations. The child touches either the animated icon with the phrase "My turn" if it is his or her turn or the animated icon with the phrase "Your turn" if it is not his or her turn. Each icon is accompanied by a recorded voice that is played when the icon is touched. Both male and female voices are available, and the child can select the corresponding voice by checking the box next to "Male" or "Female." SMART ORAL MOTOR
Smart Oral Motor is a speech training program and an oral motor skills training program designed for use by occupational and speech therapists and parents working with children with eating, swallowing, speech or fine motor disabilities. This application (or app) allows a parent or therapist to use their Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to facilitate oral motor skills development in children with specific speech impairments such as apraxia of speech, Down syndrome or craniofacial anomalies. These skills are needed for basic functions such as eating and speaking. The app comes with 15 oral motor exercises, auditory information and animations. The exercises include: puckering lips, making an "o" with the mouth, sending a kiss, moving tongue to sides, puffing cheeks, touching cheeks using the tongue, and moving the tongue up and down. An animated duck provides auditory and visual cues for practicing these exercises. The parent or therapist can also adjust the number of repetitions per movement as needed. SMARTY SPEECH
Smarty Speech is a speech remediation program and a speech training program designed for use by speech therapists and parents working with children who have communication or speech disabilities. The program allows a child to use an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to improve his or her articulation skills with a therapist, parent, or independently. The app includes all sounds in the English language and 936 words, each with its own respective image. An existing user can be selected from a list of previously entered users or a new user can be added to the app, and unlimited number of users can be added. The menu options include: (1) Phonemes which contain all 23 available phonemes and the user can select one or more phonemes; (2) Mode of Articulation (Fricatives, Glides, Stops, Liquids, Affricates, Nasals, and Plosives); and (3) Phonological Processes (Fronting, Backing, Stopping, Final Consonant Deletion, Initial Consonant Deletion, Gliding, Deaffrication, and Consonant Cluster Reduction). 936 picture images are available in Phonemes and 2700 images are included in the entire app. All images are automatically shuffled each session and presented randomly. The report function also allows the user to keep track of his or her performance, including accuracy levels as well as which specific words were accurate and which ones were not. SPEECH TRAINER 3D
Speech Trainer 3D is a speech training program and a language tutorial program designed for use by individuals who have communication or speech disabilities. The program allows a person to use their Apple iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to practice every sound in the English language, including vowels and consonants. Speech Trainer 3D uses the International Phonetics Alphabet and contains 30 sounds, 23 consonants and 7 vowels. The program features three dimensional (3D) animations in two views: front and side views. The front view includes a 3D animated avatar pronouncing the phonemes while the side view displays the inside of the mouth accounting for tongue movement, vibration of vocal chords, lip shaping and soft palate closure. These animations demonstrate the correct positioning of the tongue, lips, and mouth for the user to learn to pronounce the English sounds correctly. The user can also utilize the device’s camera to compare his/her own sound productions to the ones provided on the program side by side. THAT'S HOW I FEEL
That's How I Feel is a voice output direct selection and symbolic communicator program and a vocabulary tutorial program designed for use by individuals with communication, cognitive, learning, developmental or speech disabilities, or autism. This application, or app, enables an Apple iPad to function as an alternative and augmentative communication (AAC) system for people who cannot speak or have difficulty speaking. The app can also be used by a parent or therapist to teach a child vocabulary for feelings. The user launches the app and selects one or more of the available Smarty Symbols icons to express their feelings. Feelings are categorized in three colors: green for positive feelings, such as happy, and yellow and red for negative feelings, such as confused or depressed. WHQUESTIONS
WhQuestions is a speech training program and a language tutorial program designed for use by speech and language therapists and parents working with children who have communication or speech disabilities or autism. The program allows a child to use an Apple iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to answer “Wh” questions such as “What is your name?” or “What is it?”. The program comes with 300 questions in the following formats: WHO, WHAT, WHERE, HOW, and WHY. Each question comes with an audio recording, picture(s) to illustrate the answer, and graphics (for “true” or “false” questions). The child touches the appropriate mark according to whether he/she thinks the picture is true or false, or touches the appropriate picture for a multiple choice question. WhQuestions will display the percentage of accuracy after the child answers 10 questions so the therapist or parent can keep track of the child’s progress.
