  3. EVACUPOD OVERLAY (MODELS EVP 1 & EVP 100) Picture of EVACUPOD OVERLAY (MODELS EVP 1 & EVP 100)

The Evacupod Overlay, models EVP 1 and EVP 100, is an emergency evacuation system that serves as a foam mattress overlay when not in use. The Evacupod Overlay is made of pressure-relieving, visco-elestic memory foam covered by quilted, 4-way stretch antimicrobial sheeting. It attaches to the mattress of a standard hospital bed with four elastic straps that fit over the mattress corners. In case of emergency, the Evacupod Overlay is detached from the mattress and secured around the user using three patient retainer straps that fasten at the user's chest, hips and shins to secure the user on the mat. When the straps are tightened, the padded mat wraps around the user so that the user is protected from impacts on the bottom and sides. There are eight (model EVP 1) or four (model EVP 100) lifting straps on each side of the Evacupod and a longer strap at the user's feet. DIMENSIONS: The memory foam is 2 inches thick. In case of emergency, the caregiver(s) extend the halves of two safety restraints from the four corners of the sheet and fasten across the chest and legs of the user, securing him or her to the mattress. When pulled tight, the restraints also will bend the sides of the mattress upward so the user's sides are protected during evacuation. The restraints fasten like standard seat belts. The Ski Sheet also has long fabric handles that extend from the underside at the head and foot of the mattress. The handles can be used to lift and move the user and the mattress as a single unit to safety. When the Ski Sheet is not in use, the handles tuck under the mattress, and the halves of the safety restraints tuck into pockets sewn into the corners of the sheet. CAPACITY: 350 pounds.
