    First Phrases HD is a voice output language and vocabulary tutorial program designed for use by language therapists and parents working with children who have cognitive, communication, developmental, or learning disabilities or autism. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use an Apple iPad to help children to learn how to put two or three words together or basic English phrases. It provides many opportunities to hear, see, and say/record 72 different verb / noun combinations. There are 17 simple verbs such as drink, eat, wash, and 12 verb + preposition forms such as jump on, take off or turn on. Each verb form is paired with various nouns to make a logical phrase. By touching the illustrated parts of the phrases in order (verb + object forms: "eat the carrot"), the child hears the pre-recorded spoken phrase modeled. The user has the option to repeat this action once, twice or three times to maximize auditory input. The child then watches the animal of their choice (bear, mouse or cat) perform the command to help associate the words with their meaning. The child can then touch the microphone and record, listen again, and watch the animal follow his/her direction. COMPATIBILITY: For use with the Apple iPad. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use an Apple iPad to help children to learn the words for basic objects in any or all of the following languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Japanese, Hindi and Russian. The app includes 50 objects shown in 10 or more ways and provides three different activities: Learn the Word, Find the Word (receptive vocabulary) and Say the Word (expressive vocabulary). The child is taught the name for the word by a native speaker of the selected language by hearing and seeing it five times in the Learn the Word activity. The child is shown five pictures and is asked to find the requested object in the Find the Word activity. The Say the Word activity comes with a spinner and recording feature. After the child speaks the word for the selected object, the word is then played back, and the user can compare what was said to the model for that word in the chosen language. Optional features include animations for correct answers; picture choice so that the app displays photographs, color drawings or chooses randomly); turning text on or off to focus on reading skills or listening skills, respectively; and data collection for up to 15 children. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use an Apple iPad to help children to learn the words for common nouns and learn the names of basic objects in any or all of the following languages: English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Japanese, Hindi or Russian. The app includes five objects (bird, foot, apple, ball and baby) shown in 10 or more ways so the child can generalize their meaning. For example, ball is shown as a tennis ball, a basketball, a baseball, a soccer ball, and a football. The full version of First Words International HD (see separate entry) offers 45 additional words. The app also contains three activities: Learn the Word, Find the Word (receptive vocabulary) and Say the Word (expressive vocabulary). The child is taught the name for the word by a native speaker of the selected language by hearing and seeing it five times in the Learn the Word activity. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use an Apple iPad to help children to practice listening, auditory memory and auditory processing as well as following directions and learning colors and spatial concepts. The app teaches 10 concepts: give, touch, open, close, top, middle, bottom, push, color, and erase. Fun with Directions HD will teach a child to receive and follow simple directions, such as "Touch the cat," and more complex sets of instructions, such as "With your orange crayon, color the large one that is furry pet and likes to chase mice." Other features include settings to turn the text output on or off (to practice reading versus listening), selecting specific concepts, and selecting desired level of play (easy, intermediate, or advanced). The user also can turn on the "Superstar Direction" option, which causes surprise questions to pop up at random times for additional practice remembering and expressive language. The Lite version teaches two concepts: give and touch. Eight additional concepts are available in the full version of Fun With Directions HD (see separate entry). This app will teach a child to receive and follow simple directions, such as "Touch the cat," and more complex directions, such as "Give the boy without a hat or glasses, something round that grows on trees and can be red or green." Other features include settings to turn the text output on or off (to practice reading versus listening), selecting specific concepts, and selecting desired level of play (easy, intermediate, or advanced). The app focuses on 12 opposing concepts: turn on and turn off; up and down; front and behind; on and under; put in and take out; and above and below. More Fun with Directions HD will teach a child to receive and follow simple directions, such as "Turn on the lamp," and more complex directions, such as "Do you see a musical instrument with black and white keys? Put it behind the couch." Other features include settings to turn the text output on or off (to practice reading versus listening), selecting specific concepts, and selecting desired level of play (easy, intermediate, or advanced).     Picture the Sentence HD is a voice output language and vocabulary tutorial program designed for use by language therapists and parents working with children who have cognitive, communication, developmental, or learning disabilities or autism. This application (or app) allows a therapist or parent to use an Apple iPad to help children to practice language and auditory processing tasks at the basic sentence level. The app comes with three different levels of difficulty so the child can learn how to attend to important elements of a sentence and picture the sentence's meaning: easy (slow with visual support staying on the screen), intermediate (faster rate with pauses and visual support flashing briefly on the screen), and advanced (no pausing or visual support). Sentence types include subject + verb, subject + verb + object, subject + verb + prepositional phrase, and subject + verb + object + prepositional phrase. The user can choose from two sets of subjects: pronouns (he/she/they) and nouns (boy/girl/children). Other features include a sandtimer that delays the presentation of the picture choices so there is a greater challenge to the child's working memory; on/off settings for text; choice of color drawing icons or stick figures; and a progress/data tracker that allows the user to collect and save data, and email or print it. There is also a "Pick-a-Door" game that can be selected at varying intervals so the user can take a break; the user opens a series of doors until an animal comes out and says, "You found me!"
