Picture of VOICE SWITCH The Voice Switch is a sound-based control switch designed for use by individuals with neurological or severe physical disabilities, and a sound production training device designed for use by individuals with speech disabilities. This device provides a switch closure to control connected assistive technology in response to sound production, and it can be used to train sound production capability by persons with speech disabilities, including persons who have limited ability to produce sounds with the larynx or voice box because of cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, brainstem stroke, or nerve damage due to injury or surgery. The device comes in a plastic case and all controls are on the front panel, while the input and output ports are located on the top panel. It is equipped with a removable belt clip.The unit contains software that analyzes an incoming sound to determine if it is human speech. The switch can be set up by the user to only accept speech sounds, or to accept any sound (including speech sounds) that meets the input requirements. Two knobs on the top panel enable the user to set the sound duration and volume required to activate the output relay. The third knob adjusts the volume of the auditory feedback to the user indicating that a sound has met the input requirements. The output relay is activated for 0.1 second (100 milliseconds). POWER: Uses two double-A batteries. DIMENSIONS: 4.5 x 2.5 x 0.75 inches. WEIGHT: Less than one pound.
