Picture of FL4SH SCANNING COMMUNICATOR The Fl4sh Scanning Communicator is a scanning or direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication disabilities. The device can be activated by direct selection, with one or two switches, or by connecting one switch for each message location. The unit offers three scan modes with adjustable scanning rate, including automatic scan, step scan and two-switch step scan. Auditory scanning options are accessed by the touch of a button, with a choice of message, prompt, or beep feedback. For scanning identification, the unit uses a highly visible light source that frames each picture symbol in succession. This communicator has four message locations and offers 16 minutes of recording time with variable message lengths. The recording time can be divided across one overlay or across multiple overlays. The unit features automatic overlay detection, an innovative use of barcode technology that allows it to recognize individual overlays and adjust its output accordingly, eliminating the need for levels. Other features include adjustable viewing angle, volume control with lockout feature, separate volume control for auditory feedback, one external message jack, one headphone jack, one toy/appliance jack with cable, and four Input jacks for single-switch access to any specific location. The complete communicator package includes one FL4SH Scanning Communicator, one overlay binder, one rechargeable battery pack with alternating current (AC) adaptor, one sixteen-minute memory module, 12 blank overlay sleeves, and three QuickStart overlay sleeves (MASTER for out-of-the-box training, Social Interaction to get started communicating, and Chase-The-Light to start teaching scanning). POWER: Uses the included rechargeable battery pack with AC adaptor or four double-A batteries (not included). OPTIONS: Additional memory modules for increased recording time and additional overlays.
