Picture of OLYMPUS VN-701PC The Olympus VN-701PC is a digital recorder that can be used by individuals who are blind or have low vision. This portable recorder features the Windows Media Audio (WMA) Mono format and between 131 and 823 hours of recording time using 2 gigabyte (GB) of built-in flash memory. The VN-701PC has three recording modes: HQ for high quality, and SP and LP for extended recording. The sampling frequencies are between 8 and 44.1 kHz. Other features include a liquid crystal display (LCD) screen with font size setting, a built-in stand, USB interface, five folders (200 messages per folder), a built-in 28-millimeter (mm) round dynamic speaker, a 3.5-mm microphone jack, and a 3.5-mm headphone jack. The Scene Selection function automatically adjusts the microphone to capture the best sound. Available languages include English, French, Spanish and Portuguese. COMPATIBILITY: For use with IBM and compatible computers or Apple Macintosh computers with a USB port. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 or Mac OS X 10.4.11 to 10.7. POWER: Uses two AAA alkaline batteries (LR03) (included) or two AAA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries (not included). Battery life is 21 hours for playback using built-in speaker, 68 hours for playback using headphone, and 72 hours for recording using LP mode. DIMENSIONS (HxWxD): 108 x 39 x 16.8 mm. WEIGHT: 71 grams.
