The Kaye Anterior Forearm Support Walkers are walkers with platform arm supports designed for use by individuals with neuromuscular disabilities associated with severe spasticity, athetosis, or ataxia who lean on their forearms because they cannot grip adequately to propel their walkers. These walkers are particularly useful for individuals who have asymmetrical strength in their upper extremities as they can propel and steer a walker with only one hand. The user stands inside the walker's base of support which supplies a wide stable base and a chest cushion with adjustable angle allows the user to lean into solid support while maintaining alignment of the trunk and hips over the feet. This enables the user to lean forward without developing an atypical posture associated with flexion of the hips. These walkers are equipped with front swivel wheels that can be locked in the forward position, and the rear wheels are equipped with external ratchets to prevent the walker from rolling backward. The open back design facilitates transition form a wheel chair or other seat. With a wide range of adjustable features, thse walkers accommodate a large range of individuals and increase options for self-initiated mobility. These walkers fold for storage and transportation. OPTIONS: A detachable Walker Basket (YB) is available for all sizes and models.
