(Verified 02/2010) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- DynaVox Windows 2.0 is a direct selection communicator program designed for use by persons with neurological, speech, or communication disabilities. Using the manufacturer's DynaVox Systen Siftware (DSS), DynaVox Windows 2.0 enables a personal computer (PC) to act as a direct selection communication device. Users can also create communication pages. Pages can then be transferred to a DynaVox or Dynamyte (see separate entries) communication device via computer cables or using the DynaBeam infrared system (not included; see entry). Clinicians and educators can also use the program for user evaluation, training, and assessment. The software permits vocabulary management, management of setups and communication pages for multiple users, and tracking of user progress through a variety of outcome reports. Other features include hundreds of ready-made communication pages for children and adults; fast, comprehensive word prediction; a searchable list of 128,000 word forms that can be concept-tagged for organization and ease of access; 3,300 DynaSyms symbols, including 700 symbols designed to aid in the transition to literacy; and, the ability to customize communication pages with any combination of symbols, letters, words, or sentences. Customization can be accommplished with buttons of any size and color. Communication pages can also be printed for use with communication boards. The program includes DECtalk speech synthesis software, providing a choice of 10 male and female voices from child through adult. Manuals are included with the software COMPATIBILITY: For use on IBM and compatible computers. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: A 486 or faster processor, Windows 95 or later, 16 megabytes (MB) RAM, and 20 MB hard drive space.
