(Verified 4/2006) RETAINED IN DATABASE FOR REFERENCE. --- The Heavy Duty Rascal, models 235 and 245, is a 3-wheeled scooter designed for use by people who have lower extremity disabilities or limited mobility. These scooters have all-terrain capability and come standard with a removable front basket, a carry-all rear basket, voltmeter/fuel gauge, removable adjustable swivel handlebar, on/off key switch, and an electric push-button horn. FRAME: Both models feature soft-ride spring suspensions and die cast aluminum take-apart frames for transport. The frame also includes side and rear anti-tippers. Both models have a turning radius of 41.5 inches. Model 235 is 44 inches long x 25.5 inches wide and has a 29.5 inch wheelbase. Model 245 is 48 inches long x 25.5 inches wide and has a 33.5 inches wheelbase. CONTROLS: Universal one-hand control tiller. A foot control for starting, stopping, and speed is also available. REAR-WHEEL DRIVE: Removable, sealed rear-wheel direct drive hill-climbing transaxle. SEAT: The standard seat is a lightweight padded seat with an adjustable seat post. The seat adjusts to 21.5, 22.25, or 23 inches high. A high-back seat with lumbar support and an adjustable headrest and an extra-wide seat with lift-up armrests are also available. Also available is an electric seat lift. CUSHION: An optional Bye-Bye Decubiti (see separate entry) natural rubber air cushion is available. UPHOLSTERY: Gray vinyl. An optional removable, machine-washable velour seat cover is available. ARMRESTS: Flip-up padded armrests. BRAKES: Regenerative braking system with an automatic, manual-release parking brake. WHEELS: Three 10-inch wheels with non-marring pneumatic tires. OPTIONS: Heavy duty weather and dust cover, headlight, two rear tail lights (headlight package required), removable supermarket shopping basket, walker holder, 6 foot extension cord for charger, removable surrey top, Caboose Tag-along Cart (for a second rider), PowerStar charger (permits battery charging using the automobile cigarette lighter), and others. POWER: Two removable gel cell batteries. Both models include a built-in battery charger. SPEEDS: Maximum speed of 4.5 miles per hour with a range of 20 miles and a climbing capacity of 25 percent (14 degrees). The scooters include variable electronic speed control. CAPACITY: 450 pounds. WEIGHT: 141.5 pounds with batteries. WARRANTY: The manufacturer offers a lifetime warranty on the frame and a limited warranty for one year from the date of purchase on other components. Batteries are protected by a one-year pro-rated warranty.
