Picture of MELROSE RHINO CUSTOM RUGBY WHEELCHAIR The Melrose Rhino Custom Rugby Wheelchair is a sport wheelchair designed for use by individuals with lower extremity or mobility disabilities or spinal cord injury. This rugby wheelchair is fabricated after consultation with the athlete or user, and is manufactured to comply with rules of the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (IWRF). Chairs can be built that are primarily offensive or defensive. Pickbars mounted to the front enable striking and holding opposing wheelchairs. To make it harder for an opponent to strike and hold the chair, it has wings in front of the main wheels, rear-mounted anti-tip guards, and spoke guards. Offensive chairs with various wing alternatives or defensive chairs with variations of pickbars are available. FRAME: Front-mounted alloy or steel pickbars; wings in front of the main wheels; single wing (on offensive only); rear mounted anti tip guards; fixed camber bar between 12 to 20 degrees. Options include double, single and/or inverted wings; offensive or defensive style steel bolt on pick bar; double or single swivel anti-tips with alloy or plastic plating. SEAT: Adjustable height back; adjustable tension seat sling. Options include tapered seat width and back; adjustable tension seat back; Ergo seat and back; hip strap; back bar cover. CUSHION: 1-, 2-, 3-, or 4-inch cushion. UPHOLSTERY: back upholstery. ARMRESTS: Alloy, ABS or fabric skirt guards. CASTERS: Rollerblade castors. WHEELS: 24-, 25-, or 26-inch diameter cross spoked wheels with high pressure tires, hard anodized pushrims, quick release axles, and spoke guards. Options include Spinergy wheels; various spoke guard designs (alloy, polycarb offensive and defensive, polyethylene offensive, polyethylene / red rubber defensive); red or black rubber coated pushrims; oversize pushrims with 6 or 12 tape; wheel bag to accomodate two or four 24-, 25- or 26-inch wheels. FOOTRESTS: Adjustable height footplate; foot strap. Options include ABS or alloy footplate, fixed or fully adjustable.
