Picture of SOUNDPOD FOR IPAD WEARABLE AAC CONVERSION KIT The SoundPOD for iPad Wearable AAC Conversion Kit is a computer direct selection communicator designed for use by individuals with communication or speech disabilities and severe physical or neurological disabilities. Designed for users who already have an iPad with an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) application, this conversion package allows an iPad to be converted into a complete AAC system. This conversion package comes with either an adaptive case that fits an iPad or iPad 2, a padded adjustable shoulder strap, a strap mount magnetic cradle for the SoundPOD, the SoundPOD wireless speaker, a breakaway neck lanyard, and a charger. The user can convert back and forth from the neck-worn in-use configuration and the docked configuration with minimal dexterity requirements. With the SoundPOD worn on the neck lanyard, voice output originates from the upper body and the audio stream is directed toward the person being talked to, providing a more natural communication experience. The SoundPOD's small size and lightweight design allow it to be slipped underneath a shirt for a discrete and hidden communication solution. In addition to the voice output of the SoundPOD, users can access the featues of the iPad, enabling them to send and receive emails, text messages, and more. Designed for users with dexterity disabilities, the SoundPOD utilizes a touch panel with large bubble buttons. POWER: The SoundPOD uses an independent high capacity lithium ion battery, and the iPad uses a built-in rechargeable battery. A charger for the SoundPOD is included.
