Organizations

  • Asociación Nacional de Alternativas Dramáticas y Expresivas

    ANADE is a Spanish non-governmental organization to further the social integration and employment prospects of people with disabilities, through dramatic arts and film. Its members are chiefly health and social workers and educators, plus theatre arts professionals. ANADE has established eight permanent theatre companies in four Spanish regions, in collaboration with regional and municipal authorities and with local associations.

  • CEAPAT

    Spain's National Center for Personal Autonomy and Technical Aids (CEAPAT) offers services and information on accessibility and assistive technology. CEAPAT supports assistive technology research, and its offices in Madrid also house an exhibition of assistive technology. Their Web site offers information on the project and its resources and services in English. CEAPAT is a member of the Allince of Assistive Technology Information Providers.

  • DISTEC (in Spanish)

    The first international list in Spanish about Disabilities and Assistive Technology, called DISTEC. The list is hosted by Red Iris (Spanish Council of Research for the Information Society). "DISTEC aims to be an open forum where researchers, designers and users of AT might exchange ideas, queries and initiatives, and expose and disseminate innovative results. DISTEC will be a discussion forum in Spanish."

    This page links to information about disabilities related issues and resources in Spain. Only a small part of it is in English, but the webmaster offers to translate if you need it.

  • ONCE - Spanish National Organisation of the Blind

    Most of this site is in Spanish, but there is a link to an English description of the organization.

  • Sidar Foundation (Fundación Sidar)

    The Sidar Foundation conducts research and development to create an accessible and inclusive information society. Sidar developed HERA, a tool to check the accessibility of Web pages according to the specification Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 1.0). HERA performs a preliminary set of tests on the page and identifies any automatically detectable errors or checkpoints met, and which checkpoints need further manual verification.

  • Unidad de Investigación ACCESO

    A summary of research on accessibility and other disability issues conducted at the University of Valencia. "ACCESO participates in projects where the information and communication technologies are applied to the development and education of people with physical and/or sensorial disabilities, making intensive use of Assistive Technologies.
