ZoomText Screen Magnification Software Provides Access for Professionals with Visual Impairment

Article traces the use of assistive technology by Mumtaz Lakhani, who is an employee of RBC Financial group, which has been proactive in giving qualified people with disabilities equal opportunities for employment. Lakhani started out using a hand-held magnifying glass, and graduated to a standard personal computer with ZoomtText Xtra screen magnification software from Ai Squared. ZoomText includes IBM’s ViaVoice speech synthesizer, a command interface for Dragon Naturally Speaking Professional, and support for Java Applications.
