Article describing the VoicePC, which is an integrated voice-enabled computer that combines voice dictation, voice command, and text-to-speech technologies. Voice PC provides four accessibility solutions that come pre-loaded with Dragon Naturally Speaking version 6: (1) VoicePC E, which is hardware that features full voice-command of the operating system and applications; (2) VoicePC SE, which comes pre-loaded with ScanSoft’s OmniPage Pro 11 suite, which combines full voice-command with optical character recognition software; (3) VoicePC LV, which is focused on the needs of users with low vision; and (4) VoicePC LD, which is a tool for students with learning disabilities. Dragon Naturally Speaking version 6 contains a standard vocabulary of over 250 thousand terms, as well as a feature called Nothing But Speech from Scansoft, which filters out naturally occurring sounds in user’s speech patterns (um, ah, etc).
