By Kendrick, Deborah; Access World, Vol. 4, No. 1, pp. 6-11
Publication Date: January 2003

Article discussing Bookshare.org, a web site that contains a magnitude of scanned books that can be accessed by people who are blind or have low vision by using a screen reader, screen-enlargement software, or a refreshable braille display. The Victor Reader Software can be downloaded from Bookshare and be used to read the DAISY-formatted versions of Bookshare titles. Volunteers from within the Bookshare community submit different scanned books, while volunteers at the Bookshare office also scan books each week to help satisfy requests posted on the Bookshare wish list. Users can search Bookshare by title, author, or category.
