Access to Assistive Technologies: Improving Health and Well-Being for People with Disabilities

Report on a summit convened by the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the Foundation for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation to discuss opportunities for collaboration and action to improve access to assistive technologies for people with disabilities. Summit participants represented a wide array of stakeholder groups, including consumers, providers, industry, and government. Several key issues were considered in the summit, including: (1) lack of common language, (2) research and development, (3) awareness and expertise, and (4) financing.
