Forging Early Connections: Introducing Young Children to Technology

Article describes Early Connections – Technology in Early Childhood Education, which is a site developed to introduce children ages three though eight and students with special needs to computers and software. The site is organized by age group, and features a Learning and Development section that provides background on how young children develop language, social, motor, and cognitive skills. Advice is given on when to introduce children to computers, and a Technology and Curriculum section is included that describes how technology can help young students with specific language, math, and reading skills. The site was created by Northwest Educational Technology Consortium, and is located on the web at http://www.netc.org/earlyconnections.
