Mobility and More: Foldable Scooter Hits Market
By PN: Paraplegia News, Vol. 57, No. 12, pp. 50-51Publication Date: December 2003
Article describes a line of lightweight, foldable scooters from Electric Mobility called UltraLite Vehicles, which includes the Fold & Go and the AutoGo. The Fold & Go can be folded to 14 by 19 by 42 inches when the seat is removed, while the AutoGo folds to 12 by 22 by 39 inches. These dimensions are close to cabin closet figures supplied by one major airline. A line of accessories was designed to complement AutoGo, including the AutoRack transport platform, the AutoLift trunk lift, and the AutoRamp. The AutoRack fits on the back of cars, trucks, vans, or sport utility vehicles (SUV). The device is similar to a bicycle rack, and provides a ramp so that someone can walk the AutoGo up the ramp and onto the carrying platform. The AutoLift can move the entire unit into the trunk of a car into a van or SUV, while the lightweight aluminum folding AutoRamp is designed for transport by van.
