Screen Reader Boot Camp

By Kendrick, Deborah; Access World, Vol. 4, No. 6
Publication Date: November 2003

Article discusses GW Micro’s traveling training classes, which offer basic and intermediate training in the use of the Window-Eyes screen reader. The software package includes Braille and large-print command summaries, and the entire manual can be searched with a few keystrokes on a computer. The author participated in a Window-Eyes training course in Cincinnati, and was impressed by the small group format, and the informal structure of the tutorial sessions allowed for participants to have their specific needs addressed. The author concluded that the class was a positive and worthwhile experience, and that she left with the confidence that she could begin using Window-Eyes successfully.
