The BRIDGE Project: Assistive Technology Against Social Exclusion

By Bitelli, Claudio; Hoogerwerf, Evert-Jan; Lysley, Andrew; Assistive Technology - Shaping the Future: AAATE 2003 Conference Proceedings, Vol. 11, No. 1, pp. 207-211
Publication Date: 2003

Paper describes the BRIDGE Project, which is funded by the European Commission in the framework of the Program Against Social Exclusion, and highlights common issues regarding assistive technology (AT) services in Italy, Germany, Spain, and England. The project aims to move AT up the ranks of the priority list of health, educational, and social service providers at all levels – local, regional, national, and European. Project representatives aim to inform policy makers and policy implementers how AT services can be improved and extended. Insight is offered into the difficulties encountered in striving to ensure that AT is used effectively in inclusion, and in seeing that the conditions are met for successful service delivery outcomes.
