By AT Journal, Vol. 95, No. 1
Publication Date: April 2004

Article discusses Quartet Technology’s Simplicity Series Environmental Control Unit (ECU), which was featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition of April 11, 2004. The episode focused on the renovation of the home of a young man with a C-5 spinal cord injury due to a car accident. The network chose to utilize Quartet’s ECU technology because of the device’s capability to assist individuals with severe physical disabilities to gain control over their daily activities. With a voice command or the activation of a switch, the ECU device allows the user to control the telephone, electric bed, thermostat, doors, lights, television, and computer from a bed or a wheelchair.
