The HMPH Project: Software for the Design of an Adapted Living Area 1
By Leloup, Jerome; Pierre, Gaucher; Jennifer, Garcia; Julie, Siffert; Assistive Technology - Shaping the Future: AAATE 2003 Conference Proceedings, Vol. 11, No. 1, pp. 559-563Publication Date: 2003
Paper discusses the HMPH Project, which aims to create a moveable, connected, and adapted living area. The design phase of the project incorporates a software program that is instrumental in creating the layout of the adapted living area. The software automatically sets the rooms (and furniture) in order to create an adapted layout that provides autonomy for the resident. To create layouts of the HMPH home, the user must first choose the rooms for the living area and create preference rules for the layout. The software then generates layouts that most closely match the rules. The user then chooses the elements of the layout from the software’s configuration, or simply modifies the software’s model via mouse clicks. The program was in prototype phase at the time of the evaluation. Implications for further developments are discussed.
