By EnableMart News,
Publication Date: July 2003

Article describes the iCommunicator version 4.0 software program, which provides a multisensory, interactive communication solution for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and for others with communication disabilities. The program converts speech to text and video sign language in real time. The program delivers American Sign Language signs in English word order to improve the association between spoken, written, and signed words. There are more than 9,200 individual video signs in the program’s lexicon. Unlike the early versions of the program, version 4.0 offers reengineered video sign language for enhanced speed of translation.
