By James, Abi; Dyslexic.com,
Publication Date: October 2003

Article discusses Kidspiration from Inspiration, which is a visual learning tool designed for emerging readers and writers, as well as students with learning disabilities such as dyslexia. The program helps students to organize information, understand concepts, express thoughts, and create stories. A text-to-speech function can be useful for students who require additional support in reading and writing, while integrated picture and writing views allow for added concept reinforcement. The latest version of Inspiration (version 2.1) allows the user to create customized symbols via an integrated drawing package. Version 2.1 also has templates for mathematics, and features a tool that can be used to create Venn diagrams. Potential users need operating system Windows 95 or later, or Macintosh OS 7.0 or higher, including OSX.
