Virtual Presentations: Using Internet Multimedia to Simulate Onsite Presentations in E-Learning

By Banks, Richard; Banks, Greg; CSUN Technology and Persons With Disabilities Conference - 2002,
Publication Date: 2002

Paper focuses on ways in which multimedia can be used in web-based training and instruction, though the authors contend that multimedia is often created without consideration of the needs of people with disabilities. The authors discuss groups who are working in the area of access to multimedia presentation. The National Center for Accessible Media Project and the Web Access Initiative are listed, while Equal Access to Software and Information (EASI) offers an online course that teaches the process of making multimedia presentations accessible. The course is called Accessible Multimedia Production, and it is offered through EASI’s Accessible Information Technology Certificate program.
