Making Connections: How a Company Collaborates to Create New Assistive Technology

Article focuses on how collaboration comes in to play in the creation of new assistive technology (AT). The author focuses on Laureate Learning Systems, which produces software to assist people with disabilities in the language development process. At the time the article was written, Laureate was launching a new series called Language Links, and the author spoke with members of the development team regarding the role of collaboration in the development process. The team consisted of artists, curriculum developers, grant writers, software programmers, and consultants, who are the key players in producing quality AT. The collaboration process among these different professionals is detailed and discussed.
