New Product Launched for Chronic Heel Pain

By Physical Therapy Products: SOAP Notes,
Publication Date: January 2007

Article discusses the PodiaTherm RF Generator from NeuroTherm, Incorporated, which is a radiofrequency generator designed to treat chronic heel pain associated with plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia is a ligament connecting the heel bone to the toes while it supports the arch of the foot. If the ligament is strained, it can become swollen and cause a great deal of pain. The PodiaTherm RF Generator utilizes radiofrequency therapy to block the pain by targeting the specific nerve that causes it. The PodiaTherm then transmits a signal through the electrode, and creates a lesion via a process called thermoneurolysis. The radiofrequency therapy can be performed in a physician’s office, at a hospital, or in a surgery center.
