Disabled Adventures - Developing and Promoting Access to Outdoor Recreation in South Africa

This article describes the activities of the Disabled Adventures Outdoor Recreation Club in Capetown, South Africa. The aim of the club is to develop and promote access and increase awareness of the need for and benefits of outdoor recreation for persons with disabilities. The emphasis is on assisting persons with SCI. The organizing of a 3-day, 36 kilometer hike for wheelchair users over forestry roads is described. Facilities for the visually impaired are also being developed.
