This article describes a research project whose aim was to determine the effect of adding audio description to television science programs with reference to improving the access and comprehension of persons with visual impairments. Visually impaired adults were shown science TV programs with and without audio descriptions and were questioned about their understanding and knowledge retention. The author describes the results.
