Surface Measurement Research

By Axelson, Peter Beneficial Designs; RESNA News, Vol 7, No 4
(Pages: 1) Publication Date: July-August 1995

This article describes the awarding of a grant to the Beneficial Designs company by the National Institutes of Health. The grant is to be used to design and evaluate a device that can quantitatively measure characteristics of a surface that relate to how easy or difficult it is to travel across that surface in a wheelchair. Three prototype devices have been tested on five different test surfaces. Development of the prototypes is underway.
