Online Instruction in Braille Code Skills for Preservice Teachers

By Koenig, Alan J.; Robinson, Margaret C.; Journal of Visual Impairment and Blindness, Vol. 95, No. 9, pp. 543-557
Publication Date: September 2001

Article presents the results of an evaluation of a web-based course in braille code skills for preservice educators of students with visual impairments. The findings revealed that the course offered a high-quality, rigorous approach to presenting instruction in braille code skills when students had appropriate technology skills and equipment and were independent, diligent learners. Improvements to the course are mentioned, mainly to accommodate students who lack experience with the relevant equipment and technology.
