Who are the Players: Reviews of Hardware and Software Digital Talking Book Players

By Leventhal, Jay; Holborow, Richard; Access World, Vol. 2, No. 3, pp. 17-26
Publication Date: May 2001

Product evaluation of some of the hardware and software digital talking book players that are currently available. Hardware tested included Victor Reader Pro and PlexTalk TK-300, which performed basic reading functions well and were able to skip from chapter to chapter, section to section, and phrase to phrase. Software-based player LP Player from Labyrinten Data is reviewed as well. It can be accessed with standard Windows menus or shortcut keys. There proved to be more difficulty in moving between sections in LP Player, especially when moving backwards a section at a time. The author recommends that manufacturers need to produce simplified versions of digital talking book players to satisfy the average user.

Assistive Products Discussed: VICTOR READER PRO
PLEXTALK PROFESSIONAL PLAYER (MODEL TK-300B)
