Product profiles of the Reading Pen II from Wizcom Technologies, Inc., and SoothSayer Word Prediction from Applied Human Factors, Inc. The Reading Pen II contains the American Heritage College Dictionary, and it defines the scanned word or line of text, and reads both the words and definitions aloud using miniaturized text-to-speech technology. Individual words are enlarged on the display, and words may be spelled out or broken into syllables. Reading Pen II is useful for people who are learning English or who have learning disabilities, such as dyslexia. SoothSayer Word Prediction is a software program that helps the user type faster and more accurately. SoothSayer comes with a built-in Main Dictionary of over eleven-thousand words. If a word that is used frequently isn't included, it can be quickly added to a custom User Dictionary. In addition to word prediction, it offers abbreviation expansion and sentence completion. Soothsayer also features AutoType technology, which types words for the user based on the letter or letters already typed. For example, if "hipp" is typed, Soothsayer will type in the rest of the word "hippopotamus."
