Publication Date: July/August 2001
Article reporting preliminary findings of a survey conducted at the 1999 SHHH International Convention held in New Orleans, Louisiana. In charge of the survey were 13 audiology graduate students from the Louisiana State University Medical Center, Department of Communication Disorders. The survey consisted of nine questions, and was conducted in face to face interviews with 261 convention attendees. The questions dealt with how effective the participants found their assistive devices and hearing services to be, as all of the participants reported mild to severe hearing loss and used a hearing aid or a cochlear implant. The participants all reported that their quality of life was dramatically improved due to their uses of assistive technology.
