By Closing the Gap, Vol. 20, No. 2, p. 16
Publication Date: June/July 2001

Article describing ChooseIt! Maker and SwitchIt! Maker from Rickitt Educational Media. ChooseIt! Maker was designed for students who have advanced from cause-and-effect activities, and need to learn to make choices and master scanning techniques. Students can incorporate up to six pictures that they have to identify according to sound, text, or a visual prompt. The student identifies the correct picture by pressing a button. If the student chooses an incorrect picture, no response is given. A correct answer results in an animated reward. SwitchIt! Maker can be used to create simple switch or mouse-activated talking books, as well as sequencing and picture building activities. The program features a selection of sample files, which include cause-and-effect, use of digital photographs, telling time, and counting to five activities. The program can be operated using one or two switches, a mouse, an IntelliKeys Overlay Keyboard, or a touch screen.
