Article focuses on RoboCare, which is an Italian research project that seeks to develop intelligent software and robotic agents designed to enhance the quality of life of older adults living at home or in healthcare institutions. The project focuses on four main areas: (1) robotic platforms, (2) sensory systems, (3) activity supervision in complex environments, and (4) human-technology interaction. The authors contend that the development of these technologies is necessary due to Europe’s rapidly aging population. This paper was written by researchers at the Institute for Cognitive Science and Technology of the Italian National Research Council and the Department of Systems and Informatics of the University of Rome in Italy.
